Ah-mazing mani if I do say so myself

OMG you guys! When I said the other day that I impressed myself and it was the best mani I'd ever done? Well I was so wrong.  Today's is!  I am freakin out over this one.  Bummer is, the sun was hiding again so no sun shots.  No matter, it is still awesome!

I have decided that A England is one of my favorite brands.  I am loving Adina's creations big time. Recently, she had a sale and free shipping.  So I hopped on that train and bought the two I was lemming for.  I am lemming for more-but these were the top two!

Here is your required bottle shot.

This is A England Perceval and Holy Grail on top of XL plate B.  Since I couldn't decide which one to wear first, I thought I'd wear both at the same time.

I started with Holy Grail.  I love this name because it reminds me of Monty Python's movie The Holy Grail. My all time favorite movie besides their Life of Brian movie.  I absolutely love that kind of silly humor.  I could recite the whole movie to you at any time start to finish.  My whole family except my mom just loves these two movies. Mom just doesn't understand the humor-she thinks it's stupid!  Oh well.

Anywho, Holy Grail is a stunning yellow gold metallic shimmer.  I am loving this color. I only wish I could have shown you this in the sun.  Trust me it's bling-tastic.  Here are your shots.

How awesome is this color??  Swoon! Then I stamped with XL plate B using Perceval which is a hot red metallic shimmer.  Once again I forgot to take a picture of this step.  I then used my nail art pens and did dots! Now remember, I am a dot failure with traditional brushes.  No longer! I have these pens to do dots. I topped it off with my funky french still using Perceval.   Am so very excited.  Are you ready for awesomesauce?  Here are the results.

Are you in disbelief?  I did dots people! How freakin cool is this? I am so happy with this mani.  Random people kept coming up to me telling me how cool these are. Even dudes!  I must say if a dude notices your nails that's something right?

I have pushed the bar to a higher quality and am very excited to do even cooler designs for you.  I think I've reignited some serious mani mojo in me.  I can't wait to see what I come up with next!

What about you?

A Faberge Egg? Perhaps-

This post all started with another blog's post.  I was reading Loodie, Loodie, Loodie's newest post and she was comparing some similar polish colors and asked if anyone owned Essie Wrapped in Rubies.  Well I wrote her and sent her a picture of my Rubies.  I then volunteered to swatch it for her to see if it compared to the two from her post.

When it came time to do the swatching, I decided to just do a full mani with it.  I then went crazy with the stamping, layering and the coloring.  Loodie says it looks like a Faberge Egg.  We shall see won't we?

First up, the silly bottle shot.

This is Essie Wrapped in Rubies, Nubar White Polka Dot, Bettina Groovie and one of the nail art pens I used.  Underneath is one of my XXL plates that I used for this mani.

Are you getting excited yet?  I am!  I started with Rubies.  This is a beautiful brown burgundy with copper shimmer.  Of course, the sun was hiding, so I couldn't get any good sun shots.  Here is Rubies.

I haven't worn this polish in years and actually had it in my blog sale.  Well no more! This baby is staying with me!  I then stamped with Sally Hansen Whirlwind White and XXL plate 1.  Here is one shot of that.

This is to show you what I started with.  After stamping all my nails with this, I took my gold pen and did the lines, dotted with the silver pen and colored in the hearts with pink and blue pens.  I then dabbed on Nubar White Polka Dots but it kind of smeared the design.  I finished with Groovie, a hot pink shimmer polish.  Are you ready for the next Faberge?

The last pinky shot came out the best.  I didn't smear that one. You can see little ditzels of Nubar glitter and the design all colored in.  I am really digging these nail art pens.  May need to get some more! I am addicted to this new technique.

So what do you guys think?  Does this look like a Faberge egg?  Do you agree with Loodie?

Any thoughts at all?  Is this a do or a don't?

I impressed myself with this one-

I have been trying lately to step up my manis.  Trying new things to push my skills a little bit.  While I love layering, stamping is my true passion.  Today's design is, in my honest opinion, the best one I've done so far. You may not agree and that's cool but this is one technique that I'm going to be playing with for awhile.

I've seen many of my favorite stamping blogs do great things with simple additions like dots to their stamped designs.  Since I am a dotting failure and have not been able to figure out how to use my nail art brushes successfully, I bought myself a set of nail art polish pens.  We will be delving into this set today.

First up, the silly bottle shot.

This is Dior Merveille and Apparat.  Two stunning polish I saw on Fashion Polish's blog.  Every picture she takes makes me want to buy whatever polish she's showing! I'm serious here! Her pictures are amazing! In the middle is one of the nail art pens I used in the finished design.

I started with Apparat and did my accent nail with Merveille.  These are both stunning shimmery polish. Apparat being a dark burgundy with gold shimmer and Merveille being a bright orange fire red with the same gold shimmer.  Here are your shots.

Aren't these beautiful?  I am loving these colors big time! My only complaint is the wonky huge brush. Stiff and too big for my small nails.  Why oh why do they ruin a good polish with weird brushes?

Anyway, I then stamped with Sally Hansen Whirlwind White and XXL plate 1.  I forgot to take a picture of this step-next time I will.  Then I took my nail art pens and colored in the flower designs and added little bits of extra.  Then topped it off with my funky french in the opposite color.  I am very proud of myself for this one.  Are you ready?  Here it comes!

I used three different colors to fancy up the stamped flower outline.  I think this is so freakin cool. I got a ton of compliments on this one.  I think I've found a new thing. The nail art pens are by Nail Ritz and I just bought them from their website.  There are many different sets of 10.  I got two sets.  One end is a tiny point for lines etc, and there is also a brush if you want to polish your whole nail with it.

I've always wanted to be able to jazz up stamped designs like I've seen on other blogs.  Now that I've done it, I have a new calling!  I am just in love with this mani!

What do you guys think?  Is this cool or what?

Holo Overload

Ok people-I have pushed the limits of layering farther than I've ever gone before!  Today we have a ten layer mani!  Oh yeah I said TEN layers! I don't recommend this to anyone who doesn't have hours and hours to sit patiently and dry.  I dented this, creased it and that was after hours of dry time!

The cool thing about this is the holo overload I used.  I also used the base coat I started with as my funky so you can see where I started and where I ended up. Are you ready??

First up, the silly bottle shot.

This is Hits No Olimpo Hermes, a gold holo, Essie As Gold as it Gets, Bettina Copper, Bettina Bird and Hits No Olimpo Hefesto, a holo topcoat.  What-you didn't think I was just gonna pile ten layers of the same color did you?

I started with Copper and Bird.  Copper is a metallic copper color and Bird is a stunning banana yellow creme.  I am in love with Bird.  Here are your shots.

Isn't Bird pretty? I'm obviously on a light polish kick aren't I? I then did a layer of Hits Hermes, one layer of Essie Gold, one layer of Hits Hefesto and topped it off with my funky in the color I started with.  Are you ready to be stunned?

Oh yeah now that's what I call holo overload! OMG! I am actually loving what Bird looks like.  The Essie gold flakies get lost in all the holo goodness.  But I am impressed with this mani.

What do you guys think?  Should I go for eleven layers?

More Awards-More useless trivia

In the past few weeks, I have gotten many more awards.  As you know from my past award winnings, I refuse to follow the rules and always give you useless trivia about myself.  Well get ready-more is coming your way.

First up, the Cute Blog Award which I have never seen before and think it's so cute! I got this from Polish and Charms, Nails and Stuff, Base Coat Top Coat, Love Bean Girl and Nails Like Lace.

Next up is the Kreativ Blogger Award which I got from Nails Like Lace, Need More Nails and Polish and Charms

Lastly, I got the Versatile Award from Polish and Charms and Green Eyes Pink Nails

I just know you are waiting with baited breath to learn more useless crap about me so here goes.

1) I learned how to drive in a '75 Ford Van, manual with the stick shift on the column.  Me and my dad got in the van and he didn't tell me what to do, he just said "OK drive" I ended up on the lawn, tearing up a patch of grass and pissing off my mom.  Ever since that day, I refuse to own an automatic car.  Only stick shift for me.

2) In high school, I was an outcast because I didn't play sports.  I was in all the bands and choir. I played the oboe and piano.  I also led a campaign to allow us to wear shorts to school. Miniskirts were allowed and shorts weren't? Come on!! I won that battle.

3) Growing up I was IN LOVE with Julian Lennon.  I wanted to marry him.  My room's walls were plastered with his face.  I still have his CD and regularly listen to it. I was also in love with Davy Jones of the Monkees. It broke my heart when I learned he was married.  I own all their original records.

4) I am a VERY good pool player.  I used to beat people all the time.  I played every day for hours.  I truly used to be a shark.

5) I can burp better and louder than most men.  It's something I'm proud of! My dad taught me! Thanks Dad!

6) I read the most horrific psychological thrillers every night before I go to bed.  I read for at least an hour, sometimes two.  Have been doing that since I was little.

7) I also love Horror movies.  The scarier the better. Thing is-they don't scare me! With the one exception of Paranormal Activity.  That movie scared the crap out of me. I like the depravity of all the different ways people come up with to kill each other.  Yes I'm weird like that.

8) I am addicted to the channel Investigational Discovery.  These are shows of real life crimes, forensic science etc.

So there you have it.  More trivia about me that you never wanted to know!  Thank you again to all the blogs out there who nominated me for all these awards.  Make sure you go and check theirs out.  They are awesome!

Also want to send a special shout out to Anutka at Wacky Laki for helping me with some computer issues.  Make sure you check out her blog too!

That's all for today.  Any thoughts out there?
