More fun with layers

Today we have more fun with layering.  I have been doing so much stamping lately that I had forgotten how much fun it is to play with layers.  Today we are delving into the blues.

Speaking of blues, I decided that I have been alone long enough.  I decided I needed to get back out there.  What did I do?  I signed up on one of those online dating sites. Have any of you tried this?  It's a whole new level of humiliation and rejection.  I signed up for three months and will not be renewing.  All I seem to be getting are hits by rednecks and old men.  No thanks.  I'd rather be alone.  Reading what these guys say about themselves, you wonder really?  Do you really work out five days a week and have a full time job and yet you still look like a schlub?  Then there are the sneaky people who make up profiles, put pictures of hot men up, hit on you and then they turn out to be fake.  That's always fun.  So therefore, it seems to be a waste of time and futility.

Enough on that.  Let's get on with the silly bottle shot shall we?

This is my specially made Elevation Polish Avalanche Light, SoFlaJo Summer Breeze, OPI RoadHouse Blues, Girly Bits Cosmic Ocean and Rescue Beauty Lounge IKB2012.

I started with IKB.  Now you all know how much I love my RBL.  I tell you all the time it's my favorite brand.  But I got to tell you, this IKB formula was a huge PITA to apply.  It dragged, it smeared it dried faster than I could place it.  It generally sucked ass.  But the color is gorgeous! I must give it that.  Here are the beginning shots.

What you can't see in these pictures are the millions of tiny bubbles I got after polishing this.  But how gorgeous is this blue huh?  I do love the color.  Next I added a layer of Summer Breeze from SoFlaJo's newest collection, Life's a Beach.  Here is that step.

Summer Breeze is a purple shimmer color changer.  See the shimmer here?  Next, I added a layer of Cosmic Ocean, which is one of my top fave color changers thus far! Here is that step.

It's kind of hard to see the difference in this step other than there is a lot more shimmer.  I then topped it off with a layer of Avalanche Light and my funky in RoadHouse Blues.  Here is the final mani.

Silly me forgot the Macro shot I always end with.  Oh well!  How about that sparklefest? I think this is stunning.  I realize I need to do a whole mani with RoadHouse!

What do you guys think?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Lit from Within

The day I did this mani it was a grey rainy day.  The kind of day I actually love. I realized it's been too long since I did my kind of dark vampy mani.  Way too many bright happy manis lately!  I return again to under the rock from whence I came.

We start with the silly bottle shot.

This is a jewelry box my mom painted.  Isn't it cool?  She'll probably be mad that I put it on here, but I think it's awesome!  This is Nails Inc Queensgate Mews, Max Factor Fantasy Fire and Nfu Oh #51.

I started with Queensgate.  This is a deep dark delicious raisin creme.  My favorite kind of polish to wear.  Yes you will think it looks black, but it isn't.  The sun was hiding for this part-because it was raining remember?

Please note my almost perfect cuticle line.  I strive to be like the big blogs and their perfection of application.  I think I did pretty good considering the dark colors are so hard to get right!  I am loving this color!

Next I added a layer of #51.  This is a flakie version of Fantasy Fire.  Here is that step.

Check out the flakie goodness here! Next I added a layer of Fantasy Fire.  Here is that step.

Oh yeah I am loving this!  I then topped it off with my funky in the original Queensgate Mews.  Here are the awesome results.

Doesn't this look like it's lit from within?  That's what I see.  There is a stunning green shimmer in certain light but I took a billion pictures and couldn't capture it.  You'll have to trust me.  It's a stunning forest green.  It happened while I was driving going 75mph and I thought damn I wish I could take a picture of this right now! Good thing I didn't try right?

I am in love with this mani.  It is my kind of dark and vampy.

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Elevation Polish Giveaway-this giveaway is closed.

The time has come for this fabulous giveaway!  I have teased you enough.  Elevation Polish was generous enough to donate an entire set from her new collection that debuted June 7 and promptly sold out.  I have shown you all but the two glitters from this collection.

Here is a picture of what you will win.

This first color is not from her new collection, but rather her last collection.  It is called Aurora, Next is Stay Behind, Catch a Wave, a blue glitter, El Cap,  Rapa Nui, Torres Del Paine, Last Two Pitches, Pata on the Back and Pata Puffer, which is a magenta glitter.

Here is this picture broken down into smaller sets with links to show you their colors used in my posts.

These are the only two I have not shown you.  This is Pata Puffer a magenta glitter and Catch a Wave a blue glitter.

This is Pata on the Back and Last Two Pitches.  Click here to see these two.

This is El Cap and Rapa Nui. Click here to see these two.

This is Aurora and Torres Del Paine.  Click here for Aurora and here for Torres.

Now on to the rules.  This is open internationally and because there were a ton of cheaters last time, I will be adding 5 points to the entries of my frequent commenters since last giveaway too many people lied about this.

The giveaway starts today and ends on July 22.  The winner will be announced on July 24.

Her shop opens the 7th of each month with new colors-you can see swatches of all her colors on her blog called "I Dig Brown Nail Polish".  Now you know why we are polish soul mates!  We both love brown polish!

Orange Fantasy

Today I bring you a weird color combination that I think really works.  I've been trying out new color combinations the weirder the better.

I've got Sam sitting next to me while I write this.  He says hi!  They tell me it's going to be like 98 today.  OMG I hate the heat.  There are actually people out there who relish this kind of heat.  I say those people are nuts! HAHA!  I actually have to go out in it today and run some errands.  I drive with the windows down, the music blasting while I sing and play air drums.  It's how I roll.  Yesterday as I was doing this, I saw some girls in a convertible with the top down but the windows all rolled up.  What's the point of that? If you're gonna have a convertible, roll those windows down, mess your hair up!! Don't you agree?

OK enough rambling.  Back to the mani at hand.  Here is your silly bottle shot.

Meet Quincy T Bear.  I made him at that teddy bear factory on my birthday a few years back.  Isn't he cute? My first pet named Quincy was a mouse I had in high school.  My boyfriend and I had matching mice.  Then I got a cat and named her Quincy.  I just love that name.  Remember that old TV show Quincy MD?  Oh yeah, I used to LOVE that show!!

Anyway, we are here about the polish right?  This is The Nail Junkie Orange, Nails Inc Bluebell for Instyle and Elevation Polish Avalanche Light.  This is a special polish she made for me that has been deprived of most of the glitter.  The original Avalanche, I have shown you before.

I started with Orange, which is a sheer bright orange with holo sparkles from her new summer collection.  I did an accent of Bluebell.  Here are those shots.

Aren't these gorgeous together? I love the shimmer in this Orange.  It is very sheer however, if I was to do another mani with this, I think I would do underwear.

Next I stamped with the opposite color with plate SDP-L, added a layer of Avalanche Light to add more sparkle and topped it off with my funky.  Here are your results.
