Au Contraire Mon Frere

Ooooh-look at me talking all French like.  Trust me, that's about all there is.  You know how I love to do silly titles that actually do go along with today's mani.

I got a really nice comment the other day that said she likes my manis, but it's my thoughts and text that really keep her reading.  I think that's awesome.  I never wanted my blog to be just about nail polish.  I mean really, when you think about it, nail polish is a silly thing and look how serious we all take it!  I mean I have never seen so much drama and stupid crap over something as meaningless as nail polish in my life.  You'd think we were trying to solve world peace!

Why is it that nail polish brings out the worst in us?  Why do we have to have 'no hate' symbols and posts?  Seriously people??  People who aren't in this circle don't even understand why we all hoard polish and write about it. Sometimes I even wonder WTF. What I do know is that I love to make people think and I love that you guys actually read and reply to the topic du jour. Oh there's that French again!

Today's mani came about because of laziness and lack of time.  There's also a funny that I will tell you later in the post.  The sun was out again so you know I had to pull out more holos!

Here's the silly bottle shot for today.

Look at all that blue!  This is OPI I Saw Warsaw (yes I shortened the name), Contrary Polish Santorini, Lilacquer Selkie and on top, Enchanted Polish Halo.

I started with a full mani of Santorini.  This was a sort of let down for me.  The swatches I had seen made it seem so much prettier.  I'm kind of meh about it.  Here is the starting step.

It is pretty, just not as WOW as I was expecting.  I also realize I did crappy cleanup.  It was hair dye day and I was short on time.

Next I added a layer of Selkie.  Aaaaaah Selkie...........Here is that step.

You can really see the beauty of Selkie in the Ott Lite pic.  Never fear people, I do have a backup! It's my most used polish of my entire collection.

I next added a layer of Halo.  Now I thought this was going to be more sheer and didn't expect what happened.  Had I known, I would have chosen differently.  Here is that step.

Kind of Ruffian-like eh?  Not on purpose I promise you.  Yes this Halo is gorgeous, but kind of obliterated the dark blues and Selkie shimmer.  It's like I didn't even do any of the previous layers!

Oh well, not all things in life go the way you want them to right?  I ended this with the OPI and my funky.  Here are the results.

Even though this is not what I wanted, it still has rainbows and I love those!  Now for the funny.  Every day after I do a mani, I do a layer of top coat just to keep it shiny.  So on top of these layers was another two of top coat.  When I was getting ready for work, two nails popped off in a sheet.  Normally, I would 'glue' them back on with base coat, but I didn't have time and the others were lifting.  I had no choice but to go to work with NAKED nails!!

And we all know what blue polish does to our skin and nails right?  So I'm at work with Smurf hands and nails, no polish, no art and it was embarrassing as hell.  Some of my coworkers were picking on me feigning shock that I, queen of the funky, was at work with naked nails.  It was pretty funny actually.

Has that ever happened to you?

Why does nail polish bring out our worst?

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?
