A few posts ago, I asked for suggestions for good white polish since my Essie Blanc sucks in that regard. I got two different suggestions. One of those comments came with the caveat "if you ever go slumming for polish." I have always been very honest that I don't like drugstore brands. I have even said I am a polish snob in that regard. I just think you aren't saving money by buying a $2 polish and then having to do 4 coats to get anywhere. How is that saving you money?
So today we have a first. Two drugstore brands you all know and love. I went to Walmart, and slummed my way to a $6 mani. Are you ready?? This one's for you
KarenD!
First up, the required silly bottle shot.
This is Sally Hansen Whirlwind White and Pure Ice Heartbreaker. I had seen Heartbreaker used on several blogs and actually put it on my wishlist so when I saw it for $2 at Walmart, I picked it up. Then I put Sally to the test. I need a white that covers in one coat for my frenches. This white actually is very nice.
However, the bottle shape sucks. I tipped it over like I do the Julep bottles. The brush is too big for my small nails and the opening is too small to get the brush back in without tipping it over. Which I told you I did. But for my purposes of the french tips, it is way better than my Essie. Here she is in sun and shade.

Call me impressed with this white! This is two coats with no top coat. Next I added three layers of Heartbreaker. I really wanted to see the depth of this pretty enhancer. Here is the final result.

As you can see, it turns a stark white into a shimmery pale blue. Isn't it pretty? I have seen this used in all sorts of ways on the blogs. I can't wait to try it out on other colors. What no funky french you say? I gave it a rest for one day!
So there you have it. A $6 mani with drugstore brands. Will I start buying up more drugstore brands? Nope. I still like my hoity toity brands best.
At least now I have the perfect white. Thoughts????
