Freakin Festive Funky French

Say that ten times fast!! Today we celebrate St Nicholas Day.  Every December 5th, we would hang our stockings up and in the morning we would have a present.  In my family, we don't hang stockings on Christmas day.  If you don't know what St Nicholas day is-you can read about it here.  There it says December 6th, but we always did December 5th.  I have no idea why-sometimes it depended on my Dad's schedule.  Some years we did 12/4, some years 12/6.  No matter.  It is just a special day for my family.  I wish I lived closer so I could see my nieces and nephews open their presents!

What does this have to do with nail polish? Just wait my dear readers!  Today, we are celebrating and getting in the holiday spirit.  For me, I usually don't get into the spirit until about 12/23 or so.  In America, they start the Christmas crap so early that by the time it gets close, you are sick of it all.  But for St Nicholas Day, I needed to do something special.

First up, the silly bottle shot.

Just you wait and see what I have in store for you today!  This is Essie Loophole, Bettina Festive and Essie Set in Stones.  Oh yeah people-that is a glitter!

I started with Festive.  This is from the new Bliss collection and is a metallic olive/khaki green.  It reminded me of pine trees and tinsel.  Here are your shots.

I just love Bettina! Their formula is so easy to work with.  I am not a fan of the brush strokes here, but I knew I would be covering them up so it didn't detract for me at all.  Next I stamped with my NEW set of Shany plates.  Recently, I have received 3 new sets of 25 plates each! I can't wait to show you all the cool designs.  But for today, I used Shany plate SH17 and Konad special white.  Then, I did the funky with the Loophole which is a silver frost.  Lastly, I picked out single ditzels (my made up word) from the Set in Stone and placed them around the design.

Now I must tell you the story behind the ditzels.  You see, I had seen it on the blog Another Bottle of Polish. Here are some links for examples.  Here, here and here. She takes the time to pick out individual glitters and arranges them around on her manis.  I totally make fun of her every time she does it.  I ask her if she has nothing better to do with her time.  But in all reality, her designs that she does are FREAKIN cool!! So I thought, I'd emulate her a little today.

Here is your Freakin Festive Funky French.

Are you impressed? I am! This came out really cool! I must say, I have a new appreciation for her and her designs.  This was totally time consuming picking and placing all these silver ditzels.  She also does really cool stamping and comparison posts.  Make sure you check out her blog!

This festive mani is in dedication of St Nicholas Day. Anyone else out there celebrate this day too?

Any thoughts out there?
