CbL Tank Top & Flip Flops, Gemini, Woman From Tokyo and Julia Roberts 1967

Oh people.  It's that time of year again when the new Fall color collections start coming out.  It's the one season I can't be on a no buy for.  There are already so many new browns out there-OPI has 3! So yeah, I'm off my no buy, but still trying to control myself.

Here's my need list so far.  7 of the Nordic OPI, 3 Zoya (but most likely will not get), 3 Rescue Beauty Lounge, 3 Enchanted Polish, and there are new CbLs coming out later this month and most likely will need a few of those.  I remember back when I first started doing this nail polish thing, I would buy every single new collection that ever came out of all the brands.  Now, I'm more selective and better at picking the ones I know I will get use out of.  I haven't bought OPI in quite some time as they aren't one of my more favorite brands, but these Nordic colors are amazing!

Checkers seem to be doing better.  She is off all her medicine, eating her new special food and more playful than she's been in a while. I got a message from the vet office last night saying the vet didn't want to see her after just a week on the food, but after a month.  I'm not sure why she's changed her mind, as she was pretty adamant that she be seen after one week on the food.  I've left a message for the vet to call me so I can see what's up.  The thing is, I have my vacation coming up and need to know Checkers is ok before I go.

All right, let's check out today's silly bottle shot.

This is Colors by Llarowe Woman From Tokyo, Tank Top & Flip Flops, Gemini and Julia Roberts 1967. Nope, I don't get the name on that last one.

I started with Tank Top and Julia.

Are you freakin kidding me?????? Look how gorgeous these two are together!  Now Julia is NOT a holo, but a shimmer fest and I love it.

Next I took inspiration from another Instagram account called Rikiki.  She did this very mani using black and white.  I thought I could rock it with these colors.  I used tape and the other two colors, added some studs and voila.

Elevation Polish Volcanic Dust

Do you ever have one of those days that starts off pretty good then as the day wears on, it just keeps getting worse and worse and you end up a crying mess?  I had one of those days today.  I told you how I had to take Checkers back to the vet.  Well, for one, I was there for THREE hours, as they had a couple of emergencies take place.  I'm a nurse, I get that sh*t happens, but Checkers was not liking it one bit.

Finally, the vet sees her, but this time, their ultrasound machine was fixed.  I didn't know it was broken when I brought her last time.  I'm kind of pissed about that.  Why? Because they found that she has a large stone in her bladder, too big for her to pee out and this is the cause of her infection etc.  Had they had the machine three weeks ago, this visit wouldn't have been needed.  So now they tell me that if I can't find this brand new special diet food to dissolve this stone in a week, that they want to do surgery on her to remove the stone.

Now any other time of the year, I would still be upset, but ok-this time I'm supposed to go fishing in a month and if I can't get her better, or she has surgery, I can't go on vacation and leave her alone.  I NEED my vacation people-I look forward to it every year.

So I call the two local Petsmart stores and am told they don't have it.  The vet in the office calls and they tell her they DO have it.  I call again, talk to someone and am assured they have it.  Now this is at a store in a town I loathe to go to due to high amounts of traffic.  Well, I was right.  The highway was a mess, traffic was going 10mph instead of 78mph and it took me an hour to go 20 miles.  I was livid.  I finally got to the store and guess what?  No special food.  I went off.  Nope not proud of my behavior but I had had it.  I specifically asked and was told yes we have it.  I went off on that guy, I went off on the store manager and then proceeded to terrorize the poor clerk at the vet counter.  I made the vet there come out and talk to me.

They were busy as hell too.  I ended up being at that damn store for an HOUR.  Finally, the vet was able to contact the manufacturer and have the special food ordered and shipped to my house for free.  Well, that was a nice bonus to a bad day.  The store manager then gave me a 20% discount on the food I bought for the meantime.  I told her to tell her people to check the shelves next time someone calls for something that specific.  On the way home, I was tired-this whole drama had lasted five hours and I was done.  I hadn't eaten all day and I just lost my sh*t and cried my eyes out.

It was not good.  So now Checkers is on more medicine, I am waiting for special food to arrive and hope very much it helps so she won't need surgery.

Now because of this, I did a very simple mani and forgot the bottle shot.  So here is the base mani.

This is Elevation Polish Volcanic Dust, OPI Alpine Snow and Orly Liquid Vinyl.

I neglected to see the red on my finger that I missed before snapping this picture!  I got in something called nail vinyls, which are precut stickers basically so you don't have to cut your own tape. I used these and did this.

Pretty and simple.  I like this a lot.

Cross your fingers for Checkers to get better!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Camo Dots and a Nail Fail

You know when you're doing a nice mani and you have that cool idea in your head as to what it should look like? Then you actually do the steps and realize you F'd it all up and should have stopped while you were ahead?  Yeah this is that post.

I had such visions of grandeur, had seen this idea on Instagram and thought I can do that.  I've come to realize however, that perhaps one of the reasons I'm not more popular, besides the fact that I don't have pretty nails, is that I don't make wise color choices.  I don't know if that is learned or something you're born with.  I see these amazing manis-some not even that difficult, and I think why can't I come up with that? Or why can't I come up with those awesome color palettes?

Seriously people, is there a trick to it?  I think I pick some pretty cool colors and get all excited and then when they are actually on my nails, it's not all that great sometimes.  I actually commented on an account about this asking why I don't make better color choices.  I really wasn't given a good answer.

Do you know the answer? I'd love to know.

Anywho, I was smart enough to take pictures of the middle step, which is the one I ultimately used on IG-not the fail as I am trying to gain followers not scare them off!

Here is your silly bottle shot.

Yup-all colors I love.  This is OPI Alpine Snow (did you know My Boyfriend is GREY?), Bettina Cheer, Brown and Camel, Enchanted Polish Hot Chocolate, Elevation Polish Episote 2 and Colores de Carol Holo Blast.

I started with Snow and Camel with Holo on top.

Pretty so far right?  I next added a ton of dots with the rest of the colors.  Here is that step.

Oh yeah people, I so should have stopped here.  This is a cool mani isn't it?

But oh no! I had to go on, because I thought it was a good idea.  Now the premise is to add lines on top of the dots, so the dots peek through.  It was a cool idea that I saw on IG-but again, my color choice was not the best.  It was too sheer, so I had to glom it on, I waited too long to remove the tape, hence lifting off the base polish leaving naked.

Not so pretty what so ever.

Now this Episote 2 is a stunner for sure! I so love puke green colors-but it was just not a one coater, which I didn't know as it was new to me.  Had I picked a one coater, this would have maybe turned out better.

I also added another layer of Holo and I think that ruined the cool dots leftover.

So an allover fail in the end, that could have been avoided had I just stopped after the dots.

What do you think?

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?

Mani Garden

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I've been a little behind in my posting.  Just haven't felt like it.  Plus my cat Checkers bladder infection is back with a vengeance.  Am taking her back to the vet today.  I feel like a bad mama because I didn't take her last Saturday when I was supposed to.  Plus, I'm going on my yearly Canadian fishing vacation in one month and I can't have her sick and then leave her alone for 10 days.

Work had an incident happen the other day.  One morning, my boss calls me at 0615 at home.  I'm thinking why is work calling me so early?  Seems that a water filter in my scope processing room had cracked and flooded the clinic.  Ruined brand new carpet in one of the physician work rooms.  This also meant I didn't have a place to clean the scopes and I had a scope clinic that day.  We had to improvise and use another department's room a floor down.  I'm told that all will be fixed over the weekend and back to normal come Monday.  We shall see!

I also got a surprise email that had been sent to my boss about me.  It was saying how fabulous of an employee I am-I believe the word used was a "gem."  HEHE.  It totally made my day.  It's nice to hear when I know I'm busting my ass and others are taking notice.  Too bad my yearly evaluation was months ago!  I'll just save it up for next year's.  I might just have to frame it or hang it on my fridge to see it all the time.

Would you do that?

All right.  Even though I haven't posted, doesn't mean I haven't done my nails.  Heaven forbid I have naked nails!

Today's is totally inspired by an Instagram account 'natch.  Her account name is @isaisis97 and she does amazing floral designs.  I'm trying to better myself and my dot flowers.  Someday I will try a more difficult type of flower.

Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is OPI My Vampire Is Buff and My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Orly Liquid Vinyl, Rescue Beauty Lounge Abi and my new Chanel Madness.  Oh yeah, I've been eyeing this Madness on Ebay for months.

I started with a full mani of Buff.

Forgot to mention, I did add a layer of Colores de Carol Holo Blast for sparkle.  I so rarely do a whole mani with one color don't I?

Next I did dot flowers, grass etc.  I love how this came out.

I so need to wear Madness on its own.  But how awesome is this?  I'm so happy with how this came out!
