Plated Review

Before we get started, today would have been my parents' 49th wedding anniversary.  It is not going to be a good day for my family.  Please send us good thoughts.

I had told you how I was going to try one of the meal delivery services out there.  Today, I wanted to show you what I got.

I had decided to go with Plated.  I had ordered up three meals and it was to arrive sometime before eight pm on Friday.  When I got home from work, the box was already there waiting for me.  I got all sorts of excited and grabbed my camera as I opened up the box.

This is what I saw when I opened the box.

Next, I opened up the cooler bag inside to see this.

Each item is wrapped and labeled for which meal it goes to.  I had ordered Quinoa Grits with Roasted Sumac Squash, Vietnamese Caramel Fish with Bok Choy and Thai Peanut Chicken Curry with spinach and rice.

Here are the recipe cards you get telling you how to prepare them.

Each card has step by step instructions and pictures.

This is how some of the items came packaged.

Here you can see the garlic and a piece of ginger in tiny bags, sesame oil and fish sauce in tiny bottles. These are for the Vietnamese Fish.

This is the produce laid out. Chicken and fish on the left.

Yesterday, I cooked the Thai Chicken Peanut Curry.  It was so fun to cook something so exotic and have all the ingredients measured out for you.  The recipe had peanut butter, red curry paste and Korean gochujung as well as fish sauce and ginger.  It was so tasty, I was loving it!  It says it makes two meals, but I am not a big eater, so for me, it's made three meals.

Since I ordered three meals, that makes a total of nine meals and that's more than I would eat in a week.  This tells me I need to cut back to ordering only four meals, to get seven.  See my math there?

So far, I think this is a very cool thing for me.  I would never ever go out and get all the stuff needed to make such interesting and delicious dishes.  This makes it easy to try new things.  Today I will be making the Vietnamese Caramel Fish with Bokchoy.  I may have to pop back in here to update you on that!

Would you ever try something like this?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
