Shoes and a File

Oh yeah people. I am in a rare mood today!  I'm going to show you how cool nubbins can be!  I know you think they can't be fabulous but just you wait and see!

To start, we will be visiting a really cool nail file that I have fallen in love with and won't ever give back!  Are you intrigued??  Stay tuned!

First up, the silly bottle shot with a teaser.

This is OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Elemental Styles Red Queen Astatine, OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know and an ASK nail file.

Before we get to the mani, let's discuss this awesome file.  This is certainly not meant to take off length.  It is meant as a finisher and a sealer of the nail.  I told you that I had a massive break and had to cut all my nails off.  Well it gave me the perfect opportunity to try this file.  First, a picture of the instructions.

Now my huge pet peeve when I file my nails is two fold. One I hate the bits of nail underneath that a regular file just can't get to and I hate the sharpness on the top of the nail.  I used to use a regular file to soften that but no more!  This file does it all.

Now as you can see in the instructions above, the tip is for getting underneath the nail and cleaning up those bits left hanging.  The sides are for sealing and finishing the ends of the nail.

When you flip the file over, you see this part which is for getting rid of the sharpness on top of the nail after filing.  I have to tell you that I am in love with this thing!  It did all those things I have longed for but could never find in a regular nail file.  I will certainly need backups of this baby in my purse, at work etc.

You can buy these in the USA on QVC.com , or international from ASK cosmetics directly.  I know I will be using this file for a long time to come!

Now back to the mani.  I warn you, my nails are nubs!  I started with Gouda and an accent of Wooden Shoe.  Here are those shots.

Aren't these two browns just incredible?  I am totally loving these.  They both have the same gold shimmer that I wish you could see better in these pictures.  Next I stamped with my new Fab Ur Nails FUN1 plate. Then I added a light layer of Red Queen just to add a bit of red shimmer. Then yes I still did my funky with the nubs.  I can't not do my funky!  Here are your results.

If you don't know who this is, I pity you!  It's Stan from South Park!  I have asked for Fab Ur Nails to make the rest of the bunch so I can do a whole South Park theme! Wouldn't that be awesome?

You can see the Red Queen red shimmer best in the close up shot on the left nail.  I just wanted a little something sparkly and not over powering.  I think it added just the right touch!

I hope you have enjoyed this two part mani/review.  Hopefully, my nails will grow fast! You need that file in your life-trust me on this!  Especially if you have the same pet peeves as I do!

PS Don't forget-my fave brand of all time, Elevation Polish's store will reopen with new and restock Monday May 7 at 9pm CST!  Make sure you check it out!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

My one year Blogversary!!!!!

WOOHOO people!! Today is my official one year blogversary.  I cannot believe I made it this far and have this many followers all in one year!  I am so happy to have joined this awesome polish community and look forward to more posts to come!

If I don't already follow you, please let me know!  I love to find new blogs and I'm a pretty good commenter!

This also happens to be my 200th post!  How cool is that?  That makes me all sorts of excited!!  Let us go back and see what my first post looked like.  Shall we?

YIKES! This is Zoya Gemma and my all time fave green.  I really should revisit this awesome color.  I wasn't even doing art or stamping back then. Just swatches and only once a week.  Now let us look at a more recent mani I did that I am particularly proud of.

In the beginning, I was just using my Iphone for the pictures.  Since then I have upgraded twice and added my watermark.  How cool is this transformation eh?

The other thing that is happening today is the winner of my blowout giveaway.  Are you ready to find out who won????

The winner is:  Sarah Crawford!!!!

Congratulations!!! I have already emailed her and she has responded.  I'm very excited because she happens to be one of my first followers from back in the day!

I hope that you have enjoyed today's stroll down memory lane.  I am so grateful to have all of you in my corner of the blog world.  I hope you stick around for another year and beyond!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

My birthday mani

Before we get into what I wore on my actual birthday, I have a rant.  I was called into the principal's office-no wait, I mean my boss's office and was told my hair no longer conforms to the dress code.  WTF????  I've had the pink stripes now since before Christmas and you're just now telling me?  Boy was I pissed.  I stormed out and immediately tweeted my frustrations.  After I calmed down, I realized it's getting kind of expensive to do those stripes.  But if they think I'm changing my red hair-that ain't happening.  They hired me with flaming red hair 3.5 years ago and I refuse to change that.

Don't you just wish you were rich enough to look them in the eye and tell them to go f**k themselves and quit?  Man I sure do wish I could do that!  They better not start in on my nails.  I looked up the dress code and all it said was no artificial nails, no chipped polish and no nail jewelry.  I have to say, that I am not giving up my nail art.  I truly will quit and find another job first.

OK-rant over.  Now on to happier things like my birthday!  WOOHOO!  I always start that day thinking of my awesome gramma.  She died on my birthday years ago and she was the one who taught me how to fish.  Next, I turn on the Cracker song "Happy Birthday To Me," and sing along for a few repeats.  It's my own special ceremony. I had gone shopping the day before because it was raining on my birthday.  I love rain, so it was a nice present for me!

We will also be playing a game today.  Some of you already know the answer.  But you know the game "one of these things is not like the other?" I think it's Sesame Street or some crap like that? Or those pictures where you have to pick out the differences? Well today, you get to figure out what is different in my pictures.

Yes, this is a long story already!  I am also showing you the winning birthday card for this year from my brother.  It is included in the silly bottle shot.

Can you guess what it says inside the card?  It says "for your birthday, I thought you'd like to see a cute guy with a nice weiner."  Isn't that freakin hilarious?  I also got two of the same card with Lady Gaga references.  But this was the clear winner this year!

The polish is A England St George and Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily.  I started with Aqua Lily which is a stunning light teal creme with pink shimmer.  Unfortunately, my camera is showing this too blue and the shimmer just isn't that apparent.  I wish it was. Here are the shots.

This would be so much prettier if the shimmer showed like it does in the bottle. However, I do love this color a lot!  Next, I stamped with St George, plate DRK-A and topped it off with my funky.  Here are the results.  See if you can spot the difference!

Do you see it?  Oh yeah, I had a massive nubbinizing break in my ring finger nail.  I will be cutting the rest down because I just can't do the one short nail thing.  How sad though!  I had just taken the time to fortify all my nails with Orly Rescue stuff to help grow them past the splits in my nails.  How weird that it broke up right at the funky line though right?

Also, I have made a Pinterest board under my blog title name but have no idea what to do now!  Any suggestions?  I added a bunch of my manis.  All I want is to get more traffic to my blog.  Hopefully this will help.  Let me know people!  Plus, stay tuned the next post will have my giveaway winner on it!!!!!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Flecked & Froze to Death under an Avalanche

Aren't you just loving my silly post titles lately? I just read that the old Blogger interface is going away and I will be forced to use the new crappy interface.  That's bullsh*t Blogger!  I should be able to stay with the old if I want to!  I hate the new interface.  Did you ask my opinion when you created it?  No?  Then why force me to use something I had no input on? You'll have to take me kicking and screaming!

I guess this is how life is right?  Being forced to do things we'd rather not.  Still sucks just the same.

Today I am showing you my pre birthday mani.  This year my schedule worked out that I had two days off for my birthday this year.  I went shopping the day before, but since I had just bought a new refrigerator, I really didn't have any money this year.  Oh did I forget to tell you that?  Yup, my last standing appliance has died.  So now every single appliance I own is brand new.  Plus a new roof, new car and a new AC unit.  Now you know just how broke I am!

On to the task at hand.  The silly bottle shot.

Damn that's a lot of polish eh?  This is Orly Au Champagne, Elevation Polish Avalanche, Rescue Beauty Lounge Halcyon, Elevation Polish Froze to Death and Finger Paints Flecked.  Now you get the title right?

I started with RBL Halcyon from the new Fan Collection.  Of course I got all four!  This Halcyon is such a gorgeous sage green with metallic pink shimmer.  SWOOOOOOOON. Here are shots of that to start.

I am loving this color!  Next I did a layer of Finger Paints Flecked which is a green flakie. Here is that step.

Nice right?  Subtle, not too busy.  Well hold on to your shorts my friends!  Next I did a layer of Froze to Death, which is a multi shaped white and holo glitter fest.  Here is that step.

Oh the party is just starting!  I next did a layer of Avalanche which is the most awesome holo shimmer, holo glitterfest you will ever see!  It is the glitter for me and that says a lot!  I then topped it off with my funky in Au Champagne.  Here are the final sparkalicious results.

Oh yeah that's what I'm talking about!  Look at the rainbow of sparkles in this!  And yes that is a buttload of pictures-but how could I not show all these glitters and holo awesomeness?!?  I am in love with Elevation Polish!  Her new colors and restocking will be happening on May 7.  I know I am excited!  You should be too!

What do you think of the new Blogger interface?  Should we plan a revolt?

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?
