Tribal Redemption

So you all shared in my failure a couple posts ago.  Well I am a very determined person and the next two manis will blow you away.  This one was totally based on a mani I saw on the blog Nailuminium.  If you haven't checked her out, you are seriously missing out. She does amazing manis and her photos are perfection.

I got in my new art brushes and they really made a huge difference. I also tried a new technique called distressing and I have to tell you, I'm in love with this!  Today's distressing has a wooden effect.  Don't worry, I will show you!

It was 75F here yesterday and today is supposed to have thunderstorms for tomorrow will be barely 35F. I'm so ready for Spring it ain't even funny.  It even inspired the next mani you will see here.

I had bought myself one of those "As seen on TV" accordion garden hoses because my old heavy crappy hose finally bit the dust.  I wanted something better and lighter.  Well for $20 you can't go wrong right? Trust me, I was totally skeptical, but when I tried it out?  Awesomesauce for sure.  The water pressure makes the hose expand and it's almost as sturdy as a regular hose.  I washed my car, washed my porch, my doormat, I went to town it was so nice out.

When I was done with the hose?  It shrank right back down and I've got it hanging in my laundry closet.  I'm in love with this!

I also bought new plants for my aquarium since mine are super old and starting to disintegrate.  I bought a new background as well.  I had not planned on cleaning my tank this morning, but after I wrestled with the stupid background, it was too late.  So I went ahead, still in my PJs and hadn't even brushed my teeth, and cleaned my tank.  It's a chore I hate, but love the results.

For a few bucks, I now have a new scenic fish tank.

Here is your silly bottle shot.

These are Bettina Earth, Brown, Vintage and Stiletto.

I started with Earth and Vintage, just like Nailuminium did.

Pretty so far right?  Next I used the distressing technique, which is using an almost dry polish brush and kind of dabbing in places.  There's a great tutorial on Chalkboard Nails.  Personally, I don't like her color choices, but I do love the technique.  This look is actually called the wooden effect.

Bummer is, I forgot to take pictures of my hand, but did remember my thumb.

Pretty cool eh? Doesn't my thumb nail look like wood?

Yeah.  Next I freehanded with my new brushes and some striper polish.  Here are the very cool results.

Certainly not the same caliber as Nailuminium, but way better than my purple tribal mess!  Since practice makes perfect, the next mani is even better than this one!

I leave you with a picture of my baby Checkers who was just looking so cute I had to snap a picture.

See how cute is this???

Are you loving this mani?

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?
