Super Stamping Holo Freak, ILNP Black Orchid, last Niece's nails

As I write this, I am in the last hours of my vacation at my parent's house.  As you read this, it will be my first day back to work after 12 whole blissful days off.  I will be packing up then driving to their 'other' house this afternoon as it saves me almost 2 hours of drive time tomorrow.  That is always a good thing as reality will be setting back in.  I have two more days off at my house before I go back to work on Thursday.  I will have to clean my house as my cats will no doubt have made a mess, I'll also need to change my betta's water and cross your fingers his tail has grown back in while I've been gone.

One girl from work texted me the other day and hinted at the goings on at work while I've been gone.  The two who do nothing are the topics.  Once I get the deets, I'll be sure to let you know.  As of today, I still have three days off.  So I still have some time before going back in there.

I don't have anything too exciting to talk about.  This post will be my last one with my niece's nails as she has a soccer game today and I won't get time to do hers again. She decided she wanted me to stamp her nails this time.

We picked two different Bettina-I think Vanity and Silk, then used a darker Bettina for the stamping.  Owls, butterflies and a dragonfly was what she picked out for today. Pretty cool eh?

Next I decided I wanted dark and vampy.  The only problem with that?  It rained yesterday and I couldn't get good lighting.  I think part of the problem is that these two holos are freaking my camera out.

I used another made for me holo from More Nail Polish called Super Stamping Holo Freak and ILNP Black Orchid.

Like I said, these holos freaked my camera out!  I took a bazillion pictures, then took more and this was the best I got.  These colors are amazeballs in real life!

Because these were so awesome, and because I was feeling lazy, I simply did a jigsaw on my middle nail. It's hard to see.

I retook these this morning as the sun came out, but it freaked my camera out even more!  You have to love a holo that freaks outs a camera!

I'm sad that my vacation at home is over, as I won't be back until next year Labor Day. It's sad I only get to come once a year.

I hope you have enjoyed my niece's nails as I love doing them!  She sure picks out good stuff!!

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?

Made for me holo and my niece's nails!

Those of you who actually read and pay attention to my drivel, will remember that when I come home for vacation, I always do my niece's nails.  Today's post will feature one that I did while there.

But first, we went to have lunch with her at the school I went to and haven't been back to in 18 years.  Let me tell you it was freaky to be sitting in the cafeteria with a bunch of third graders.  They have totally remodeled the school so it wasn't the same as when I was there, but still flashback central for me.  One of the girls next to me was talking about how she has a boyfriend and I'm thinking you're in third grade!  At the end of the lunch half hour, a boy came up and just stood next to my niece and they both looked at each other and blushed and had these grins on their face.  It was so cute-I think they have a crush on each other.

I was happy that the lunch was only 30 minutes.  I had had enough!  The noise that was generated wasn't helping my migraine any!  We then went across the street to the bead store and I bought 5 more beads for my Pandora like bracelet.  I have about 8 more to go before the bracelet is complete.  If any one wants to see my new beads, let me know!

Now because I did my niece's nails, I didn't do a bottle shot.  Plus, as I'm writing this, I think I am coming down with my mom's cold that she's had since Canada.  I am feeling feverish and my throat hurts and I just feel blah.  Not a good thing as my vacation comes to an end.

You wait all year for your vacation and it then goes by in a flash.  I have today and tomorrow here then the long drive back home.  I hate leaving as I know I won't be back for another long year.

My brother's birthday was yesterday so my niece wanted to do something special and since we are a NY Giants family, we used the team colors for her mani.

Here is what she picked out for me to do.

The polish I used was Bettina Cobalt and a made for me holo by More Nail Polish called "My favorite color is holo".  I used acrylic paint for the letters.  Can you see what it says?  I heart Dad and I heart Mom.  I thought that was pretty nice.  After I write this, I will be doing her nails again.

For me, I started with another made for me holo called "He Said What?" based on my online dating stories. I also used OPI Alpine Snow.

How glorious is this forest green holo??????  Ignore the nubs and the fishing casualties on my skin and just focus on the greenness!

Next I simply did dot flowers that aren't my best work, but I'm on vacation!

Like I said, not my best work-but it is what it is!  I am simply enamored with this green-I doubt I have anything like it in my holo stash!  Plus it was made just for me.  The best present ever!

Stay tuned for another post with my niece's nails.  I've got to go do them now!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

ILNP Fall Semester and Homecoming, plus early vacay pics!

Today's post will have a mixture of early vacation pictures as well as a new to me brand of holo.

I just spent the last few days up in Canada at my happy place. Although the fishing was not great this year, I did manage to catch a 2lb large mouth bass and a couple of rock bass. Before you ask, yes we eat them. I only throw them back if they are too little for me to filet.

Rockbass

Largemouth Bass
Oh yeah baby! I am a fishing rock star!  This was the first year that we didn't stay in 'our' camp as my mom sold it.  I won't lie, I was very saddened by this, as I wanted camp for myself for when I got older.  Sh*t happens and it wasn't up to me.  So we stayed at the neighbor's camp right next door. This was at first very weird, but as I saw how much the family who bought our camp is fixing it up and loving it, it made me feel a little better about things.

I took some amazing pictures with my new camera of the scenery.

Have I mentioned that my new camera takes amazing pictures?????? Holy crap people! It's like you're right there!  Anywho, this was our little spot in Canada.  Mom and I did some kayaking, we did a lot of lounging and I am sunburned on half of me.  It's funny as hell!

OK now onto the mani at hand.  I just discovered ILNP-or I Love Nail Polish as it stands for.  Their Fall holos called my name.  I'm using two for today.

Crap, you'll have to forgive me, as I'm not at home to check on the names of these two OPI.  They are from the latest Nordic collection.  Then there are the ILNP Homecoming and Fall Semester.

I started with the holos.

Not the most holo of all the holos, but damn are these gorgeous!  Once again, I used my Barielle Ridge Filler base coat, as I LOVE it, but I added another layer using Orly rubber something.  Again, I'm not at home for the proper name.  This was to be my driving to New York mani.

Next I used acrylic paint and the two OPI and for the first time, did freehand with brushes flowers.  Came out sort of a wonky petunia if you will.

Pretty cool eh??? I was pretty proud of these.  Now remember that I used two base coats, the Barielle and an Orly. Well I did my nails Saturday morning.  I then fished for three whole days, this is water intensive, worm and fish guts etc.  So for 5 days I wore this mani.  Not my normal two days.  Here is what it looked like after all that.

Only the first two fingers have chips. Normally with my day to day life, I have a chip after a day or two.  This was 5 days and fishing!  I have found me a new base coat combo that lasts forever!  WOOHOO!!

All right, I have to go.  Mom and I haven't seen our soap opera, The Young and the Restless in 5 days.  Did I mention that camp has no internet, no TV, no phone, no shower etc?  Totally an unplugged three days.  I LOVED IT!!!!!!

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?

No Not Now, I Got A Headache, a Barielle review!

With a title like that, you know you're in for something good!

I apologize for the lack of posts.  I had told you I was going on vacation, but I usually put up a post announcing the official thing.  I just got back from Canada an hour ago. My happy place.  More on that in the next post.

I told you that Barielle had emailed me and asked me to be one of their official bloggers.  Now I do admit, I know very little about Barielle.  It's not a brand that you see very often, at least on the blogs I read.  I do own the set of browns from years ago-maybe 2009 or '10?  I had to search blog sales etc to complete that set.  I have yet to wear them! But when I looked through their website, I knew I could rock these products!

So I was asked to pick out a few products to try and some polish as well.  Here's what I picked out.

I immediately started with the nail cream.  Now I don't have any insight into how this product works yet as I just spent the last three days fishing and my hands in water. My nails are a damn mess at this point in time.  I am back to nubs for real. These pictures were taken before this took place.

What I can say, is this nail cream was initially made for horses' hooves back in the day. This is the first product that became Barielle.  I love the thickness of it, the feel of it on my nails-it's just silky and lovely.  I will be getting back to you about how it works on a later post.

I started this mani with the scrub you see next to the nail cream.  This was a fruity, coarse salt scrub that left a layer of oil on your hands to absorb into after you finished scrubbing.  I loved it and can't wait to try it on my sad feet!

Next I started my mani using the ridge filler as I have bad ridges and we all know it's bad to buff them out. This ridge filler left a nice matte finish. I have used this several times since this and I really like it!

Next I picked out several browns from this Nude and Naughty set.  You HAD to know I'd pick that one right? I picked out No Not Now and I Got A Headache, because they are brown and because the names crack me up!

This was my first time using Barielle polish.  I have to say, I like the formula.  It stayed where I put it. Usually I am a sloppy polisher, but with this, I didn't have too much clean up.

Here is the silly bottle shot.

The outside holos were made for me by More Nail Polish and not for sale.  The names were given in reference to stories on my blog.  But that's for another post.  In the middle are the Barielle.  No Not Now, I Got A Headache and In Good Taste.

Here are the starting shots.

These have a gorgeous shimmer to them.  I so love these browns!  Next I used acrylic paint and free handed some wonky starfish flowers.

I do kind of like how this came out!  Oh and I used the Barielle top coat on my base color.  It worked really well at drying to touch quickly.

Overall, my first foray into Barielle was a good one.  I truly like the polish and can't wait to play with more of it!  I've linked all the products listed here as I talked about them in case you didn't notice.

Since I'm now an official Barielle blogger, I will be showing you their newest polish colors etc.  I sure hope you've liked this so far!

Stay tuned for my first vacation pictures for this year!

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?
