EP Valentine, Paint It Black, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls

I do believe I fixed my washing machine.  Those that actually read what I write, will know that my one hour wash took over two hours last week and I had to force a drain and spin.  I figured like all computers, it needed a reboot.  So I unplugged it.  Then I turned it on and unplugged it.  Guess what? My wash cycle today was right on the money at one hour like it's supposed to be.  Hey now! Ain't I the sh*t?  Did the same thing with my dryer just for sh*ts and grins to see if it made a difference.

I'm just happy I don't have to call in the repair guy.

Am still doing my Plated service.  I had Ricotta Corn Empanadas yesterday and today I will be making wild mushroom papardelle with mascarpone cheese.  Then during the week, I have Quinoa Stir fry to make as well as coconut chai rice pudding.  I've never been a fan of coconut, but I thought I'd try this out.  Still deciding on next week, the selections that I'm looking at are Cheesy Quinoa Casserole and a Sweet Potato lasagna with turkey sausage.  I'm totally in love with quinoa now.  Oh but the week after I'm very excited about.  Beef Gyritos and Lamb Kofta.  I've noticed most all I've had so far are vegetarian in nature, I'd so be a veg chick but I can't go without bacon.  Just can't do it.

I post my food pics on my Twitter account and the Plated Facebook page if you're ever interested in seeing them.

My poor baby Sam was throwing up this morning.  For a 26 pound bundle of love, he sure doesn't poop very much.  Twice a day he does his thing, but I think he's constipated.  I tried brushing him this morning and washing his backside, which normally stimulates him to go, but I made the mistake  long ago of giving him treats after I do that.  Now, he won't let me clean or brush him for very long before he's up walking to where I keep his treats.  I even tried doing it right after breakfast this morning and nope.  So naturally, I don't get enough time to get him revved up to hit the litter box anymore.

How's that for a topic of conversation?? HAHAHA!

Here's your silly bottle shot for today.

This is Enchanted Polish Valentine and Paint It Black with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls in the middle.

I was in a red mood.

How gorgeous is this????? I had wanted to try Chalkboard Nails Easy Sideswipe Technique so that's what I did with the other two colors.  I just didn't do the negative space part.

Flash

I was going to just use the black, but decided it needed something.  I'm kind of digging this!

What do you think?  Next post, I'm trying out a new stamping technique by Lacquer Lockdown she calls Double Processed Stamping.  You'll have to tune in to see how it went!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Painted Polish by Lexi Peas in a Pod, Custom Holo-He Said What?

For the past two days, I have been staring at four Spell polish.  I've never tried the brand and I'm not quite sure why her prices are higher than most indies.  But there are four of them that I am dying to try.  They are all matte, which I loathe, but are oh so pretty with a top coat.  Have any of you tried out this brand? Is it worth the extra money?

I have been seriously on a no buy.  I've been doing remarkably well.  I didn't get the Essie matte collection, although I am still thinking about it.  I'm taking the time to see if I still really want it after a period of time instead of my normal impulse buy.

Work is work.  There are five of us who are now involved in top secret meetings to figure out how to fix the problems that plague our workplace.  I was invited to be in on this, which I am very flattered, but they've tried to fix things before and it never happened.  I'm told this time will be different.  We shall see.  Part of this process will be rewriting job descriptions and new guidelines on day to day patient interactions.  They've even brought in a performance improvement chick to help us fix things.

We are meeting once a week for now to really get things started.  Heads are gonna roll!  I'm pretty excited about this, but still have my doubts that anything will really change.

The snow is still on the ground.  The schools were closed all week.  Why? I've no idea.  Just the way it is here in the South.

Let's get to the silly bottle shot.

This is Painted Polish by Lexi Peas in a Pod and a custom made for me holo called He Said What? Made by More Nail Polish.

I started with all Peas.

Isn't this gorgeous????  I needed a Spring pastel to brighten my mood.  This is a scattered light holo and so, so pretty.

Next I did my spin on a So Nailicious Valentine's Day design.

Indoor Sun

Now I actually sponged on the darker green as I wanted it to be a lighter version.  How cool is this though????  I am in love with it!

Would you ever be involved in top secret doings to fix your workplace?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

CbL Gizzards & Lizards, Aliens & Outlaws, EP Paint It Black

It snowed yesterday.  We got about six inches-a huge amount for Virginia, but not for me as I grew up in New York with tons of snow.  It never ceases to amaze me how people here react to the news of a "big" snow.  I drove to work yesterday, yes the roads were awful, but I was the only one driving, so it was fine.  I'm sitting there reading the paper and they're talking about the lines in the grocery stores. People buying up all the bread and eggs like Armageddon is coming.  Oh and buying up generators and snow shovels etc.

This is every single time.

It makes me chuckle big time.  No way would I ever be one of those circling the parking lot, trying to get a space so I can go in and buy up a loaf of freakin bread.  Really? Do you really think you're going to be SO snowed in, that you can't get to the store? It's just so stupid.

Now I really do need to buy a snow shovel as I don't own one.  But did I rush out and buy one before the snow of the century? No.  But it's on my to do list for some day, when I happen to be at a store and I happen to remember I need one.  Know what I use now?  A dust pan.  Yup. It's lightweight and easy to use.  Works every time.  I cleared off my steps, and I cleared the end of my driveway with my trusty dust pan.  I hate that my driveway gets blocked from the snow plow, but what are you gonna do?

At least I have today off, so I can just be lazy and stare at the pretty snow.

It's also been a month since my dad passed away.  I'm still a damn mess.  My neighbor's dad had cleared my driveway for me while I was at work yesterday.  So nice of him.  Want to know what it made me think? That I no longer have a dad to do things like that for me anymore.  I put my head on the steering wheel and balled my eyes out for quite a few minutes.  I literally had a red dent on my forehead from it.  I was washing my face later going, what the hell did I do to my forehead, when I remembered.

My desk has all sorts of Dad stuff on it.  Pictures of he and I, pictures of him, just stuff for me to look at.  It's just way too hard.

All right.  Here is your silly bottle shot for today.

OMG! Isn't this stunning?????? You have to love the holo happiness!

Next I added the other two in a tape mani.  The corner of the glitter is too hard to see here, but oh so awesome IRL.

You can see the glitter in this last picture.  It's the black and white micro holo glitter and oh so cool. Am thinking I maybe should have done that area a bit bigger.

So do you buy up bread when it's going to snow?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Barielle Champagne Bubbles, Heaven Sent, Under the Sea

What the hell is going on here? I started my damn laundry at 0600 like I always do on Sundays and it's now 0800 and the damn machine still says it has 38 minutes left to go! The program was for 67 minutes ad I'm now up to 120!  It's not even a big load, it's the same size I always do.  I may need to call Sears and ask them what the f*ck.  I still have a whole other load to go.

I think I've lost my mani mojo for the moment.  Today's mani is such a huge fail and my previous other ones aren't that great either.  It seems I've just lost the motivation to do anything interesting or the least bit difficult or time consuming.  I know it has to do with my dad being gone.  I hope you guys understand this and not stop reading my blog.

The crazy thing I added on my sidebar is the popular posts section.  It's supposed to show the most popular posts of that week.  I looked this morning and one of them is this crazy awful one I did back in 2011 when I first started out.  Man are my pictures hideous and my nails are awful and wonky. Yikes! How is that even one of the popular posts this week?

For a good laugh, go back to the beginning of my blog and look at some of those pictures.  I dare ya!

I just demanded that my washer immediately drain and spin.  It seems like it's perpetually stuck on the rinse cycle.  I'm really going to need to pay attention to that as I may need the maintenance guy to come out and have a look see.

I think I figured out the issue.  I think it was somehow uneven in the load weight and every time it tried to spin, instead of alerting me, it would add more water trying to fix the unevenness.  So I opened it up, yelling at the machine mind you, and moved the stuff around and now it seems to be spinning as planned.  Cross your fingers.

Anywho, here is your silly bottle shot for today.

This is Barielle Heaven Sent, Under the Sea and Champagne Bubbles.  I've shown you the two blue ones before.

I started with Heaven and Bubbles.

Kind of a weird peachy brown and it was very sheer.  I needed two heavy coats.  Next I totally ruined this with a bad tape job and a bad freehand job.  I am not happy with this at all.

No I have no idea what the hell I was thinking when I did this.  Have a laugh and let's move on shall we?

EP All Love Garden, October 2014

The sun finally came out the day I did this mani.  Of course, I had to do a fabulous holo right?

Before we get to that though-

Seems no one was excited about my Plated meal delivery service I've been using.  Well I am! If you wanted to see pictures of the food I made, I posted them on my Twitter account and on Plated's Facebook page.  I got this week's ingredients last night.  I only got two meals this time as three was just way too much food.  However, then I'm into having to pay the $6 for shipping, but for $8, I got dessert! So I'll be making caramel apple tarts to go with my roasted carrot risotto and ricotta corn empanadas.

Man it's making me hungry!

So I'm still trying to decide whether or not I'm a planner freak.  I just feel like I don't need to write down every second and every action I need to do for every hour of my day. It just seems to be bulky and heavy and a pain in my a**.

I've really got nothing to talk about right now so I'm just going to get to it.

Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Enchanted Polish All Love Garden and October 2014.

I started with All Love Garden.  This is a gorgeous green duochromey holo that I just love.

Isn't it stunning?  Next I added some October 2014 and some dots, then was told I had created a green ladybug. Not what I was going for, but it is what it is.

EP Regal, Sweet Mint

Just spent the last couple of hours paying my bills and doing my taxes.  Good news is, I'm getting back enough money to pay my homeowner's dues for this year.  The bad news is, I'm still broke!

It sucks so bad to get a paycheck and after writing out all your bills, you're back to zero.  I just need a sugar daddy to come swoop in and take me away from my miserable existence and give me a life of luxury.  Paris for lunch? Why not?

I wonder if I'd be bored after a while with that life.  Does it matter? If I'm bored, I could just buy a new life right????? HAHAHAH!

Just finished the most awful book ever written.  I exaggerate as it's in the top ten bestseller list, but I just don't understand why that is? It's most likely because mom and I like gory, murder filled psychological thriller who dun it types.  This was just page after page of just mundane stuff.  How five people's lives intersect and who killed the person.  I shall be sparing my mom from this one.  I took one for the team as it were.  On the bookshelf it's gone, forever to never be read again.

Makes me not want to dive into the other book that's in the top ten that I bought.  This one is touted as very similar, and has a movie out based on it.  I'm not going to give names, as these are simply my opinions and I'm sure others love these books as they are top ten.

Note to self, stop buying these books!

OH and get this! You know how I've shown you my NexGen nails saga? It's stayed the most popular post since I've written it.  I actually got a very nice email from the guy who invented the brand and the product! How cool is that?????? Someone had seen the story on my blog and showed it to him. He thanked me for taking the time to write about the NexGen stuff.

I tell you, I will never go back to my nubs!

Now today's silly bottle shot and mani are sadly NOT color accurate.

This is Enchanted Polish Regal and Sweet Mint.  Regal is actually a deep blurple and Mint is more mint!

I started with a full mani with Regal-I just loved it too much!

Indoor Sun

Indoor Sun
So wish my camera would show this better! Since I was so in love with this, I simply added a bit to my ring finger and left it at that.

Indoor Sun

Indoor Sun
Still pretty, even though it's not color accurate!

So I'm thinking about the new Essie Cashmere Matte set. But I hate matte and plan on using top coat. Is the set worth it? They seem to be gorgeous colors-I even checked them out at Ulta.

What are your thoughts on that?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Polish My Life Stripped, One Shade of Grey, EP Paint It Black, Valentine

Today is Valentine's Day.

I hate this day.  I think it's a Hallmark holiday that forces too much pressure on people to prove their love and makes the single people feel like a piece of crap.  Oh and yeah, I was once dumped on VDay.  Thanks for that memory A.

One thing I do know though, is that people are crazy for VDay manis.  This will be my second one and I'm not quite sure whether I'll squeeze out another or not.  I challenged my Facebook group to either show your love or hate for the day and I've yet to show my hatred for it through my nails.

Hmmmmm.  What else? Oh yeah.  Stupid got an attitude because her coworker called in sick.  Uh oh, you may actually have to do some work!  Funny, seems to me I remember you taking off last Friday? Payback's a b*tch ain't it!  She was complaining on how her phone was ringing off the hook.  All I remember was one ring and the third coworker answered it.  Maybe I just didn't hear HER phone ring.  HAHAH!

I had another coworker ask me what they do-I told her I have absolutely no idea.  But if she was to ever find out, to please let me know.  This coworker also told me, "damn you do a lot."  I told her, yup and it's about time people noticed.  I also told her that means, don't mess with me, as I have a ton of work to do!  I've been there since 2009 and they are just now figuring out just how much I do.

I guess it's better late than never.

I have a new pet.  It's a tiny raccoon who has been hanging from my birdfeeder in the middle of the night eating all my seed.  I've been catching him, running out on my porch in my underwear (nice visual there) yelling at him. This is like 3 am.  Last night, he couldn't be bothered to run off.  Just stood there looking at me in my undies. Finally, I pulled on my PJs, went outside and Mr raccoon just sat there and watched me take down the feeder and go back inside.  He then proceeded to eat the seed on the ground, ignoring me.

I guess I'm just not scary to a little raccoon.  I feel sorry for the guy, but he eats a ton of seed!

All right, on to the silly bottle shot.

This is Enchanted Polish Paint It Black and Valentine with Polish My Life Stripped and One Shade of Grey in the middle.

I started with black and white.

Flash

Nothing like a simple black and white.  Next I did a tape mani, then stamped.  I don't have a stamping red polish, so it's not perfect, I had to freehand one of the hearts.  But the idea is there and very cool.

Indoor Sun

Indoor Sun
This is still a cool VDay mani, although not a perfect one.  Now for the mani that shows my hatred for the day...........

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Plated Review

Before we get started, today would have been my parents' 49th wedding anniversary.  It is not going to be a good day for my family.  Please send us good thoughts.

I had told you how I was going to try one of the meal delivery services out there.  Today, I wanted to show you what I got.

I had decided to go with Plated.  I had ordered up three meals and it was to arrive sometime before eight pm on Friday.  When I got home from work, the box was already there waiting for me.  I got all sorts of excited and grabbed my camera as I opened up the box.

This is what I saw when I opened the box.

Next, I opened up the cooler bag inside to see this.

Each item is wrapped and labeled for which meal it goes to.  I had ordered Quinoa Grits with Roasted Sumac Squash, Vietnamese Caramel Fish with Bok Choy and Thai Peanut Chicken Curry with spinach and rice.

Here are the recipe cards you get telling you how to prepare them.

Each card has step by step instructions and pictures.

This is how some of the items came packaged.

Here you can see the garlic and a piece of ginger in tiny bags, sesame oil and fish sauce in tiny bottles. These are for the Vietnamese Fish.

This is the produce laid out. Chicken and fish on the left.

Yesterday, I cooked the Thai Chicken Peanut Curry.  It was so fun to cook something so exotic and have all the ingredients measured out for you.  The recipe had peanut butter, red curry paste and Korean gochujung as well as fish sauce and ginger.  It was so tasty, I was loving it!  It says it makes two meals, but I am not a big eater, so for me, it's made three meals.

Since I ordered three meals, that makes a total of nine meals and that's more than I would eat in a week.  This tells me I need to cut back to ordering only four meals, to get seven.  See my math there?

So far, I think this is a very cool thing for me.  I would never ever go out and get all the stuff needed to make such interesting and delicious dishes.  This makes it easy to try new things.  Today I will be making the Vietnamese Caramel Fish with Bokchoy.  I may have to pop back in here to update you on that!

Would you ever try something like this?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

EP September 2014, Petal, Lobster Roll

Yesterday, I got a wild hair and decided it was time to scrub my kitchen cabinet doors.  Let's see, when was the last time I did this????? How about never? My house was built in 1994, so I'd say that's when they were cleaned last.  HAHAHAH!

For years, I've seen the litter dust on the tops of the cabinet doors, thinking to myself, damn I need to wash these doors, but it never got done. I made it a chore for this weekend's list and 'got er dun'.  I first used Murphy's Oil Soap, and scrubbed the hell out of the doors, then I followed that up with Pledge. Totally a pain in the butt to do, but oh so pretty and shiny now.  I'm under no illusion that the shiny will last, as anyone out there with cats knows litter dust is a pervasive thing and gets into everything.  My next chore I want to get done, is still my hall closet and now my laundry closet doors.  They need some cleaning.  Note to self, add these to a future weekend list.

Finally got in my order of Washi tape samples for my Erin Condren planner.  What the hell do you do with this stuff? I tried googling it, I guess you just stick them randomly throughout the days to make it pretty?  Can someone out there please let me know?  So far, I'm not sure I'm a planner gal. It seems heavy and bulky and I'm just not one to jot down every thing I need to do in my day.  I'm still playing with it though, It's only been a month that I've had it.

Mom and I have decided we are in denial about dad.  That he really didn't pass, he's just on a golfing trip.  I mean we believe this with all our hearts.  It does not seem real that he is gone.  I'll need to look up the five stages of grief.

Be right back.........

Here are the five stages: denial, anger, bargaining ( if only stuff), depression and acceptance. So there you go.  It doesn't bring my dad back.

Before I get all maudlin, let's look at the pretty pink fest we have for today.

This is Enchanted Polish September 2014, Petal and Lobster Roll.

I started with skittles.

So pretty isn't it? For pink that is!  Next I stamped with my Mundo white, and added heart studs.

Sunny's Body Products and a new Blog Design

So unless you've never ever been here before, (shame on you!), you'll notice a HUGE change here. My gorgeous and talented Xomisse has worked her magic and come up with this amazing design. Please tool around, click on things and let me know what you think.  What do you like, are there issues etc.  She really did an amazing job and I would highly recommend using her for any blog design needs you have.  She's located in Ireland, which I just think is the coolest thing!

Now today's post is totally not about nail polish.  I'm sure most of you who are polish addicts like I am, also have other vices.  Mine happens to be lip balms and hand creams.  I discovered Sunny on Instagram and have since bought a butt load of her stuff.  I currently have topped off at 37 products and counting.

I thought I'd show you my stash thus far.

Here is the entire stash in all its glory.  Aren't they pretty?

Let's start with the two sets I've gotten.

The first one is the Christmas set, the bottom one is the latest Valentine's Day set.

These are her latest inventions called Bath Whips.  I have not tried these yet, but they are supposed to be for the bath or shower in place of soap.  You can see the scents I chose.  Sunny has tons of different scents to choose from!

These are her Hand Butters, sort of like very thick cream.  I love these big time.  You can see I love the woodsy, man scents!

These are my favorite.  This is the Miracle Balm and it's a thick solid vaseline like texture.  Man do I love this stuff! I use this as hand lotion.  Yes it's greasy, yes it takes a while to soak in, but man the results are amazing!

Lastly, here are the sugar scrubs.  These are amazing and leave your hands so soft and smooth.  The sets come with all these different products, with the addition of cuticle oil and her intensive therapy oil.  The Intensive therapy oil has now become my favorite morning treatment while I drink my coffee.  It's got Argan oil in it and it just soaks into my nails and cuticles and I am amazed at the results.

I hope you have enjoyed this little departure from polish.  We shall be back next time with polish!

Please let me know your thoughts on my blog design.  I'd love to know what you think!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
