Let's start with how the regulatory/epidemiology person came to my head and neck cancer clinic and said she was going to site us for not doing things the way they told us to do back in July. I'm just going to be honest and tell you that I was livid and I went off on this lady. I was pissed!
I told her that you people can't come breezing through here telling us all these things we are doing wrong and what we have to do to have it done correctly and then just blow back out and not give us the items needed to do said tasks. I am not going to get in trouble because I am not doing what you guys told us we have to do when we aren't given the stuff we need to do it your way.
Oh hell no.
For example, we use scopes to look into people's noses and throats. They are disinfected between patients. The stupid people who have no clue, think these scopes are then dripping with stuff and can't be transported to the cleaning area in a container with holes in it. So we were told we have to use special containers. Fine. Did we get special containers? Well sort of. We got a cheap Rubbermaid plastic tub that we are expected to shove a $10,000 scope into it.
Oh hell no.
I'm not breaking a scope that expensive by shoving it into a container way too small. Plus, we wipe the scopes off in the patient's room before we even leave the room. So there's no dripping etc. So I told this stupid lady that I ain't doing it. If you want us to do it, get us the proper container and I'll be more than happy to comply.
Trust me, there are way more issues that she brought up and I went off on. Her reply continued to be, "I appreciate your honesty." I guess she's never had someone go off on her before that she can't tell the difference? You have to love the damn administration who comes in like this, having NO clue as to how our job is done and they are the ones making all the changes. It's a scary thing.
