Sunrise Vacation

I reserve the right to not do nail art or anything too fancy while on vacation unless I get a wild hair to do so.

I have not this week.

Let me start with another gellin update.  I told you I was bringing my gel kit with me and hadn't decided if I was gonna soak it all off or do a back fill.  Here's what I did.  I filed it down some, then made a homemade aluminum foil/cotton ball thingy soaked in acetone.  I kept it on for about five minutes.  My dad joked asking if I was trying to contact other planets since all my fingers were wrapped in foil.

When I took off the foils, I still had some gel on there, but I was ok with that.  I then did a sloppy, messy, thick job of it and already need to fix a nail.  I'm ok with that too.  I'm on vacation!

I do have some nice growth to my nails, but it certainly isn't making them magically healthy or anything like that.  So far, I'm happy with how things are.

Here is a sunrise I watched the first night I was here in Myrtle Beach-another of my happy places.

Oh how I wish I could live right on the water like this!  After this though, the sea fog came in and stayed for two days.  I didn't get another sunrise picture.

I did bring with me 24 holos to play with. Mostly Enchanted Polish.  I did bring stuff to do nail art, but I just wasn't feeling it.  So the next 2-3 posts will just have swatches.

This is Enchanted Polish Dime Piece, Hey Jude and October 2013.  I had just gotten October in the mail and wanted to wear it!  The first two pictures are room light, yes I know they are blurry! The last two are flash shots.  I wanted you to see the green of Hey Jude.

I think this is the first time I've ever worn it.

I hope you liked these!  I would rather have something post here even if it's swatches then have days go by with nothing happening around here!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Creams, Shimmers and Holos-Oh My!

Before we get to the awesomesauce that is today's mani, first the story of the fallout.

You remember how I told you I did not go to work due to the snow, but then ended up having to take my baby to the Emergency Vet? Well, I got in trouble at work.  Yup, the bullsh*t there continues with the new boss.

So I got to work the other day and was immediately called into the principal's office. It kind of feels like that to me anyway.  I was told that the policy is we have to be there, we are essential personnel.  I was to be disciplined, it goes in my file, I don't get to use my sick time for those eight hours, plus I don't accrue the normal 6.5 hours of sick time I would normally have.  WTF?!??!

I said to her, that I had to take my cat to the emergency vet, that she had a blockage, that I had the receipt and the CD showing the blockage proving I was there.  I told her that even had there been no snow, I wouldn't have shown up that day because my cat is more important to me.  Told her my work for the following two clinics were all done, I had no patients to see and no one needed to cover me and my work. She said, I appreciate that you are one of the more conscientious nurses that has their work done, but this is coming from leadership and all that were not there that day will be penalized as I have.  She did say she would take my vet receipt and "see what she could do." Which means I'm out 8 hours pay plus the 6.5 I would have earned.

I got to say this is BS.  It would be different had patients been there, different had I done this every single snow day.  Not the one time in the 5 years I've been there.  I'm pissed.  I think it's wrong and I can't do a damn thing about it.

Or can I?

My little piece of revenge?  I emailed my boss and the boss's boss the email I had gotten that said how awesome I am, that said I was brought up in a leadership meeting as someone who does the job correctly? Remember that?  I had kept it to myself up to that day.  You bet I emailed it to them saying, 'Oh I forgot to forward this to you guys, please put this in my file.'

Just my little way of saying, I'm good and now others know it and you're punishing a damn good employee for bullsh*t.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Now we are back to the mani at hand.

I am actually writing this while on vacation in Myrtle Beach and I'm listening to the waves in the background. So nice!

Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Rescue Beauty Lounge Reveillon, Forgotten Road and Enchanted Polish January 2014.  A cream, a shimmer and a holo all in one mani!

I started with skittles.

A Lonely House on a Footpath

I really don't pay attention to things sometimes.  Sometimes tiny details get past me.  I just realized that eight posts ago, I hit my 500th post!!!!  WOOHOO!!  I guess that's cause for celebration and a pat on the back eh?  My blog will be three in May so that's a cool thing too.

Now those who have been paying attention know my love for Rescue Beauty Lounge. Those that have truly paid attention and have seen the new RBL collection should be able to say what colors I got from said collection.  Any guesses???

I have to say there was one that caught my eye that you'd never guess.  I haven't bought it yet, am still mulling it over.  It's a glitter and for some reason, it's been calling my name.  I know right?  A glitter calling my name? And it's not a black and white one.  It's green microglitter with specks of raspberry glitter. It's a beauty!

The next day after I told you I had to take Checkers to the vet?  I had to go to work.  My car was stuck down at the end of my driveway with two inches of snow and ice on top. I had to trudge down there, clean off my car, trudge back up to finish getting ready for work.  I had no problem getting out but when I got home, once again, I could not get into my driveway.  By this time, I'm a cursing really loud and my car is in the middle of the road because it just won't go into my driveway.  I had to flag down a truck coming so as not to hit me and my car. I asked them to help me push it up the driveway.  I didn't want to leave it that far from my house all weekend long.  My stupid car fought it the whole way up there.  Front wheel drive tires just spinning in the slush.  Sh*t I was mad!!!

We finally managed to get my car sort of up the drive.  Parked at a weird angle but at the top.  I went out yesterday and took my dustpan, yup that's what I use and cleared a footpath through the snow to my car. Then I went to the end of the driveway and tried to clear out where the plow had blocked me in.  Took my dust pan and shoveled the end. It's supposed to be sunny and 44F today so I'm hoping it'll do some good melting.

I know I can get out on Monday, but I just want to be able to get back in after work.

By the time this posts, I'll be on my way home from Myrtle Beach.  Hopefully, I'll have some good beach shots and sunrise shots to show you.  I didn't get to go last year like I normally would have so I'm excited to be able to go this year.

Luckily, Checkers is doing much better so I feel ok to leave her for a few days.

Here is the silly bottle shot.

I have no idea why this came out blurry.  Anywho, this is Rescue Beauty Lounge A Lonely House and Footpath.  Now you know the meaning of my title!

I started with Footpath and an accent of House.  I'm telling you, the formula on these is spot on.  They would be one coaters if you're careful.  I am in love for real with these.

Why it looks like I bathed in this fug yellow I have no idea.  I certainly didn't see it when I was taking these pictures!  Sorry!!!!

Now to show how awesome this polish is, I simply stamped with the opposite color as I do alot.  I used Cici&Sisi plate 6.  Here are the results.

Oh how awesome these two colors are!!!  I am so happy!!!!  They stamp so well, the formula rocks, I give them two thumbs up!!!!

I have two others from this collection to show you.

Here is a picture of the plate.

So woohoo to post #509!!!!  HEHEHEH!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Had an Emergency-and Gellin' update

So you read about how I decided not to go into work because of the snow.  In reality, I could not get out of my driveway.  But then my baby Checkers started throwing up some kind of bad.  She was getting worse instead of better and I had to take her to the Emergency vet.  The rest of the normal vet offices were closed due to the snow.

I got my neighbor and her dad to come dig me out of my driveway.  Finally I got out and on the way.  It's an hour drive, mind you it's still snowing, the roads weren't the greatest and I have a sick cat in the back foaming at the mouth and crying because she hates to be in the car.  Yeah it was a fun ride.

Got her there, they took her right in.  Turns out, she had a blockage in her intestine due to being constipated. My poor baby was very brave, I was so scared it would be a tumor or something, due to the fact that she's 11.5 years old.  She's not a young kitty anymore.

I was a complete wreck and I admit that.  Checkers is my life, my baby and I'm going to tell you right now that when she does pass away someday, I will never be the same.

They wanted to keep her overnight for IV fluid, but I don't have that kind of money, the bill was already at $400! So they gave her an injection of fluid under her skin, gave her pain medicine and nausea medicine and let me take her home.  Total cost $430.

Once we got home, I could not get back into my driveway. My car was stuck and I just left it there at the bottom of my driveway.  Checkers was happy to be home.

She has finally gotten some poop out, I'm not sure the offending one is out yet, but she's not throwing up and she's back to her happy little self.  The bummer is, my other cat Sam is being a beeyotch and hissing and snarling at her whenever she gets near him.  He smells the vet on her and won't let her near him.  It's so sad at the moment because Checkers doesn't understand why her snuggle buddy doesn't love her right now.

I'm telling you right now though, he better get over it.  It's making me mad!!!!  Here she is in one of her many poses.

I'm just so glad she's ok. Now because of all this, I did not have time to do any art.

Here's an old picture of my driveway so you can see why I have so much trouble.  It's a long one on an incline.

You can see where my car is.  The end of the driveway is way down where you see the trees.  Maybe 30 yards or so?

Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Llarowe Burnt Sugar, Glitter Gal Belgian Chocolate and Enchanted Polish December 2013.

I started with skittles and had plans for other things, but life happens.  Here are the gorgeous brown holos though!

The sun pics were taken two days later, hence the tip wear.

I also have a gel update for you.  It has officially been a week since I applied the gel mani.  Here is a shot of my naked nails.

Yup, the damn Belgian Chocolate I just showed you stained my clear gel pink!!!  You can see though the growth I've had in just one week.  This picture I took after I did a little shaping, filing and regelling my tips and wrapping the free edge.  I am totally winging this.  I have no idea if that's ok or not.  You can see I have no lifting of the gel at all.

Some have told me to just backfill the gel like they do with acrylics instead of doing the acetone soak and total redo.  I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet.

I do know I already have to retip the middle finger since I hit it and it tore away a bit of gel and nail.

I'll be in Myrtle Beach when this posts, and I'm bringing my kit with me.  I'll wait and see what I feel like doing.

Any one out there have any sage advice regarding this????

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?

A Dark Mood

When I did today's mani, I was in a dark mood, both in my head and color wise.  I realized I hadn't used my first lemming ever in the polish world since I got it about two years ago, and had only worn it once.

Before we get to that though, a few updates.

Today's mani is actually only four days after I did the clear gel layer underneath that I told you about.  When I removed my polish, I noticed no lifting, which is a good thing, but also noticed that my nails seem to be growing faster than I had realized.  I had a good few millimeters of growth already and the gel was no longer at my cuticle line. Now because I have the gel on, I can't file and shape my nails because there is a layer of gel on the tips and I don't want to disturb that yet.  I like that my nails are growing out, but hope I don't have to redo the gels after only one week.  I figure as long as there is no lifting and my tips are covered, I'll be ok to leave it alone for now.  Soaking in pure acetone is not exactly a healthy thing for your nails.

So please ignore the shapes and differing lengths of my nails as the gels grow out!

Also, the Proactive Plus I told you about, has dried the hell out of my face. I have several dry patches of scaly skin and have stopped using it for the moment.  I never should have jumped right in doing it twice a day from the get go.

But, my consultation at the medical spa went really well.  They are hopeful they can help my skin.  I have dedicated myself to whatever they tell me to do and the products they recommend.  I've spent way too much on random things, I want to try for a few months this route and see if it truly helps.  My first medical facial is the end of this month.  I'm told they will be removing all the bacteria from my face so I start a new.  What she said is one of the steps I must do after that is put a new pillow case on my pillow every night.

I never really thought about that before.  Makes perfect sense though.  Why put a clean face on the bacteria on the pillowcase from the night before?  I told her I would do anything and everything she tells me too. She's been an aesthetician for fifteen years now and I really like her. This is my birthday present to myself this year.  Hopefully by April, I will have better skin!

Onto the darkness!  Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Glitter Gal Black 3D and Lizard Belly.

Lizard Belly was my number one lemming back when I started blogging.  I just had to have it.  I wore it once, said meh and put it away never wearing it again.

I decided it was time to give it another try.  I started with Lizard and an accent of 3D.

You can see the greenness in the Ott lite pictures.  I am seriously loving this all over again!  I wish the sun had been out, but I've decided I'm going to wear my holos even if the sun ain't shining!

Next I stamped with Konad White using Cici&Sisi plate 5.  Here are the results.

This was done before Valentine's Day actually occurred so I just had to do dark hearts for the holiday I hate!  Does this stamping look pink to you?  I swear I used a white polish, I can't figure out if my top coat is stained, or it had a reaction to this polish.  It's weird whatever the reason!

PS, by the time this actually posts, I will be in Myrtle Beach with the 'rents, soaking up some sun!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Delicate Things

I'm sitting here writing this having a conflict in my head.  You see, I woke up to five inches of snow, sleet and ice on top and decided I wasn't going to go to work today.  I had a feeling ahead of time this would happen and made sure my work for the next two days was done before I left work the day before.  The clinic had already cancelled all the patients for today due to the weather, but we are considered "essential personnel" and are supposed to be there later this morning.

Since I had my work caught up and had no patients, I didn't think it a big deal.  So I called in like I'm supposed to at 0630 expecting an answering machine.  What I got was my boss's boss on the phone.  She had slept there overnight.  Damn.  I told her I wouldn't be in and she asked me why.  Stupid me told her the truth, that I'm an hour away, that I'm snowed in, that more snow is expected later during rush hour home, that my work is done.  Damn me for not lying!  She of course, spouted policy and she had to warn me that I am essential personnel and expected to be there.  I know she has to say that and I heard the disappointment in her voice.  You see, I know her well and she likes me.

What am I going to do there if I do go in, my work is done and there are no patients to see?  What kind of sense does that make?  I could go in and catch up on my blog reading since I am way far behind on that. But how stupid is that?  I'm trying not to let her make me feel guilty.

What would you have done?????

And of course, this means I get to do my nails again!

Today's mani has very delicate designs to it.  Besides the work topic being a delicate situation, the mani I did is also delicate.

Here is the silly bottle shot.

This is Liquid Sky Lacquer Swerve, Wink and Enchanted Waterfall.

I started with skittles, but forgot to take pictures before I started stamping.  Pretend you don't see that yet!!!

Poor Swerve got covered up before you could see the gorgeous blueness!

As you can see, I chose a gorgeous rather detailed image to stamp with.  This is Cici&Sisi plate 4.  Here are the results.  I used Konad stamping polish in Royal Purple.

I am so happy with how these designs came out!  They have so much detailing to them. So awesome!

Here is the plate I used.

So what would you have done?  Gone to work and sat there? Or stayed home and done your nails?

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?
