Pure Luxury

It's technically Christmas day as I'm writing this.  I hope you all had a good holiday. Santa got me three more beads for my Pandora-like bracelet. Let's just say, my mom rocked it!  I swear I'm going to take a picture one of these days when I remember to so I can show you!

Since I'm always off on Wednesdays, today really doesn't feel like anything other than a regular Wednesday off.  With the exception of having A Christmas Story movie on in the background. The TV channel TBS does 24 hours straight of that movie and it's always my family's thing to have it on all day during Christmas. I didn't get to see the other movie we always watch on the Eve, which is A Christmas Carol with George C Scott.  It HAS to be that version.  There are many versions, but for my family that's the one.  When I tried to see if any channel was showing it, all I found with the 50s version with Alastair Sims.  Not happening.  It's an alright version, just not the one I wanted.  I think I gave my copy of that movie to my brother.  I need to buy me one to watch!

Then the tradition is to go to my relative's house an hour away in the city. There is always shrimp cocktail and the contest as to who can tolerate the screaming hot horseradish cocktail sauce.  My aunt actually grows the horseradish so it's freakin hot.  After a while, you start to sweat and tears run down your face.  It's a good time.  There's always the wimpy bowl for those who do not want to burn their face off. Of course, the Ralphie movie is on in the background.  Then there is a big repeat of Thanksgiving dinner and then we open presents.  Growing up, I was the one who made the whiskey sours for the adults to drink.  Yup, I was the mixer.  It was an important job.

It's so sad that I am missing all that this year.  Hopefully next year.

Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Liquid Sky Lacquer Pure Luxury, Spice Cake, And Syrup and Cloudy Day Latte.

I started with a full mani of Luxury.

Wow grab the sunglasses for this beauty!  This is a light gold linear holo and gorgeous!  Next I did a gradient with the other three polish.  Here is that messy step.

You can see the gradient effect really well here.  Next I stamped using MoYou plate Christmas 1.

How awesome is this?  A 24karat snowman!  It's harder to see the gradient with all the bling of the holo, but it's meant to be subtle.

Here is the plate I used.

You can see the snowman to the left of the house.

So what are your holiday traditions?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Tiny Bubbles

You guys who are old like me, may remember Don Ho and his classic song, Tiny Bubbles.  I can just hear it in my head now.  Tiny bubbles, in the wine, makes me feel happy, makes me feel fine.

Oh that song is a freakin classic!

Also has nothing to do with today's mani, but I like to mess with you guys out there as you should be aware of by now.  I hope you all had a good holiday and are now most likely returning things and buying last minute things on clearance sale for the end of the year.  I wait and shop then.  I get better deals.  I have a list I've been working on of things I will be getting with my christmas cash.

Things like, new sweatpants, new work pants, etc.  Oh and I have discovered something awesome.  A new shampoo and conditioner that I just have to do a shout out for right here on this very blog.  I'm kind of embarrassed, but what the hell.

We all know who Jennifer Aniston is right?  Well she has ahhhhhhh-mazing hair. She also is the spokesperson for a hair company.  Now I figured she wouldn't just trust her hair to just any old drugstore thing so I decided to try the Living Proof travel kit of the Restore line to see what all the hype is about.

One day I was looking at myself in the mirror at work and noticed my hair all sorts of shiny and soft.  I have never noticed that before.  I have realized I can't stop touching my hair.  Now I'm serious about my hair.  I dye it every 28 days no matter what and always use the salon products.  This is a first for me. I will need to tell my hair dresser and not sure how she will take the news!  HAHA!  Maybe she can get me a discount!  I just hope she understands.

Now here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Enchanted Polish Dime Piece and Holiday 2013.  Oh how awesome are these newest holos????

I started with Dime and an accent of Holiday.  Here is that step.

BLINGBLINGBLINGBLING!!!!!  OMG people!  I'm blinded by the holo-ness of this Dime Piece.  Now this is the same as Nfu Oh #61 but without having to use the special aqua base.  It is intensely insanely rainbowy. The Holiday is a gorgeous raisin colored holo.  I have nothing like this in my stash.

I didn't want to cover this up and I was feeling quite lazy.  So I did a sort of dot gradient.  Or a sort of bubble design floating up in the wine as it were in the Don Ho song.  See I always tie the title in!!

Here are the results.

Holy Moly this is bling-alicious!  I did dots within dots and this is so very rainbow filled.  I just can't get enough!

Do you shop after the holidays?  Do you have a favorite shampoo?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Christmas #2

I have hit a milestone on my blog.  Yup after 2.5 years of blogging I have officially had over 200,000 hits. I remember when I first hit 100,000.  I was all sorts of excited and now this?  Over the moon happy.

I know I'm no blogazon who gets a million hits a month, but in my little corner of the world, I have my loyal peeps and you guys are the reason why I keep on doing this!  So thank you to you out there in internet space!

I told you that my boss is no longer my boss.  The interim boss has already started changing the rules.  I'm worried she will be a do-er unlike my last boss.  So far, she hasn't messed with me.  They continue to add random people to my cubicle farm in the basement.  The latest they didn't even tell her until it was time to move.  Now this person had her own office she shared with one other person.  All of a sudden, she's told pack up your sh*t, you're moving.  Really????  Is this how it's going to be now?  The person they had expected to go in that spot refused to go. It made no sense for her to be so far away from the actual job she was supposed to do.  So now this poor random chick, who has nothing to do with my office, is now forced from her nice office to a desk in a cramped twelve bay cubicle farm.  Plus, it's getting noisy in there the more people they add.

It's a freakin nightmare.

Oh and since this is actually posting on Christmas Day?  Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Sadly, I can't go home this year, but will be joining my parents at my brother's house the weekend after to celebrate a holiday of sorts.  But the actual day, I will be home alone.  SIGH.

Onto the mani at hand!  Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Liquid Sky Lacquer Ever Green, White Christmas and Sleigh Me.

I started with Green and Sleigh.  Here are the starting shots.

I just love these Liquid Sky holos!!!!  Next I sponged on some White Christmas on the tips, but it doesn't really show.  I then stamped with white and plate MoYou Christmas 1.  I added dots for interest.  Here are the results.

It's too bad the White didn't show well here, but I am loving this design!  I think it's very cool.

Here is the plate I used.

Look to the right of the door and you will see the section I used.  I have got to get more of these plates!!!!

Merry Christmas to all you who are reading this!!!  I hope you have a great holiday!

Personally, I'm just waiting for next year to get here.  I'm hoping it's a better one for me.

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Does this thing work?

I was messaged a month or so ago from someone who had invented the ultimate polish accessory.

Can you guess what that would be?

Picture you reaching for that bottle of polish that hasn't been used in a while and you really want to use it but oops, it's glued shut.  You try the hot water technique, you bash it against the wall and it just refuses to budge.

Are you with me now?

Enter the TOPSIE!

Funny looking and funny name, but oh so awesome!  This fits all different types and sizes of polish bottles, plus would work with other household items as well.

You put the polish bottle in and twist and voila, it magically opens.

Please excuse the naked nails!  I live alone so had no one to help me take a proper picture of using this. Suffice it to say, it works wonders!

I must confess that when I first got this, I was skeptical and really didn't think I'd use it at all.  But in the month or so I've had it, I've reached for it more times than I ever expected to.

Now this product has not officially launched yet.  The owner is still putting things together and doing some sort of Kickstarter campaign come January.  The price point being around $6 or so.

You can contact Rob via Twitter at @myTopsie.  He is also making a website that should be up and running soon as well.

I hope these become a household item all over the world!

I love my Topsie!!!

Is this something you would use and buy?

Until next time people. Any thoughts out there?

Rock My World Subtle

Just finished vacuuming and dusting my house.  The furball tumbleweeds had started taking over and I just couldn't stand it any longer.  I always like the end result, just not the actual getting it done. My vacuum has started rebelling or else it's possessed.  I haven't decided which yet.  What I have decided is that I need a new vacuum.

This one has started rolling in the power cord all by itself, while I'm using the vacuum, plus the HEPA filter trapdoor unexplainedly pops open on its own and loses suction.  It has become one huge, heavy pain in the ass.  I'll be vacuuming along, singing Lady Gaga very loudly, dancing and I'll wonder why the power cord isn't reaching as far as it normally does. Then I realize the power cord has retracted on its own again.  I'll be doing the floor and it refuses to pick up the cat fur that it has moved into a pile.

I'm telling you, the thing is acting possessed.  I will have to get a new one.  It's just how it is.  Mom you're getting a new vacuum!

Now today I tried something I have never done before.  Wearing a holo when there is no sun.  Yes it's kind of sad without the holo rainbows so I won't be doing that again.  But I was able to use my flash to show off some of it. It's just not the same without the sun.  I desperately need to make a light box!

Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Liquid Sky Lacquer Rock My World, Sugared Berries, Black Opal and Walk on the Wild Side.

Did you notice something????  It's showing the purple!

I started with a full mani of Rock My World.  Here are the starting shots.

For some reason my camera has decided to show this color accurate and purple! What I did was have my Ott Lite in a dark room with it being the only light source. Whether it's that or my camera playing nice I have no idea.  You can see some of the linear rainbow here.

Next I sponged a gradient with the rest of the colors.  Here is that step.

Again, just as messy as my last post.

Here are the results after the cleanup.  I was feeling quite lazy and did no design over it.  Just the gorgeous subtle gradient.

I'm told this is way too subtle and you can't see the gradient.  I see it but realize it is subtle.  Sometimes a little subtle is a good thing!  I like how the flash shows the rainbows, it's just not the same as the sun.  But in a pinch, it'll do!  I have way too many new holos to show you to wait for the stupid sun to shine!!!!

Can you see the gradient?

Any vacuum recommendations?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
