Reminds me of floor tile....

Yes I know, this post is late. Should have gone up at 0500.  I usually have scheduled posts all set up for a few days in advance.  But when you do your nails three times a week but post every other day, when you do the math, at some point, you will run out of stuff posting.  This is where I'm at right now.  Unless I do two manis in one Saturday or a holiday comes up, I run out.

Yesterday driving to work, I noticed the damage the cicadas did to the trees where I live.  After they've laid their eggs in the branches, those branches die.  It makes me wonder if they'll grow back next year or not.  Some of the trees were so desiccated that I was shocked.  I mean I lived through it and know in my mind that there really were that many bugs but really didn't compute that the aftermath would leave that much damage.  There's this one house on the way, that has this one huge gorgeous tree in the front yard. It's my favorite tree and it was just blown away with damage.   It kind of made me sad.  Yes I know it's a tree people-but I'm like that sometimes.

Oh and I'm halfway through watching this documentary on PBS called NOVA Earth from Space.  OMG is it good.  It shows you how the world is all connected.  For example, Antartica sets up the flow of water that the ocean takes, keeping the ocean moving.  When the ice forms, the salty brine drops down this underwater waterfall 500 times the size of Niagara Falls and two miles down.  This briney flow generates the current that flows around the world.  I mean it's stuff like that they are showing on this program.  It is freakin awesome.  If you get PBS, you ought to see if it's still playing and watch it.  Totally worth it.  Yes I'm a geek about these things.  So fascinated by it.

One totally different tangent. People in the USA-do you really think all the fallout from Paula Deen using the 'N' word years and years ago warrants all the bad stuff happening to her now?  I kind of think it's gone a little too far.  I mean I hate that word and never use it, but when I was married, my husband's father used that word. It's how it is in the South-especially in the sticks.  I'm not a Deen fan, really can't stand her accent but I do feel sorry for her right now.

**EDIT** I am in no way, shape or form condoning what Paula Deen has said.  My thoughts are that she is just totally ignorant and stupid and raised in Antebellum South, which if you haven't experienced it, you can't speak to it.  I don't think she's doing it with any kind of malice.  I think she's just ignorant that what she's saying is wrong.  This in no way means I'm ok with what she's been saying and doing.

Alright, since this is late-here's your silly bottle shot.

This is Chanel Malice and Enchanted Polish Stay Classy San Diego.  This shot being a little different than I have been doing lately.

I was so in a red mood that I just had to wear Malice again.  I started with Classy and an accent of Malice.  Here are the starting shots.

This Classy looks like it has some pink to it in certain light.  I didn't even bother with the Ott Lite today.  Malice is still stunning and I'm so glad I braved EvilBay for it.

Next I stamped with the opposite color using Cheeky jumbo plate 10 Happy Nails. Here is that step.

When I did this mani, I thought this looked like basket weave.  But when I was watermarking, I got the feeling this looked like floor tile in an apartment building.  Do you see that?  Yes I stamped with Chanel. Think Coco would have a heart attack?

I finished this off with my funky natch.  Here are the results.

Oh how I love holos!!! I still have a ton more that I haven't even shown you yet. Can you believe that?  I'm going to go work on one now!

What do you think about Paula Deen?

Do you geek out on documentaries too?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Is that Glitter?????

Get excited people.  Something you rarely see on this blog is about to appear. Glitter.  Now those that pay attention know damn well that I am not a glitter fan whatsoever.  There are exceptions to this rule of mine. I love bar glitter, I love black and white glitter.  There is no real reason why there are some I like and most I don't. I can only say that for the most part, I am so not a glitter fan.

However, when one is feeling lazy and wanting something quick and pretty, glitter is the way to go.

Now for story time.  Remember when I told you how I ratted out my coworkers and how unfair things are between the people who have the same job title as I do?  Well, yesterday I had my yearly evaluation.  This was due in April, but who's counting right??  So usually, my boss says some things by rote memory.  Meaning, I should finish my chemo certification so I can help in the treatment room to cover staff lunches that kind of thing.  I was fully prepared to just hear that stuff again. Imagine my surprise when I was told that the position I hold will be tweaked to my way of doing things for the others to follow.  WTF? HUH? Did I just hear you right?  I was also told that I am doing a great job of taking care of my patients.  That they will be coming to me for pointers and how I do my job so they can get the others to do things my way.  I am told this will be done discretely because obviously, I have to work with these people who no doubt will know what is going on.  I am a little worried about that part.

The funny part?  She compared herself to me.  Before she was promoted to nurse manager, she did my job for fifteen years.  How that qualifies her to run the place I have no idea, but tells me that I could be manager someday right?  Hell no.  What you don't know, is that I took this job and totally changed the way of doing things because her way wasn't working at all.  So it's completely funny to me that she compares herself to me when she was doing my job.  Let's just say that the doctors I work for like my way better.  To stick up for her, which I never do, I think she was talking about how I am a total dictator and no one gets on my schedule without my ok.  It's the only way to make it work.  I am not there to make friends, I am there to take care of my cancer patients and if I don't say hi to you in the hall, well that's because I have a million things going on in my head and I don't have time for mindless chatting.  That's just me.

I think it totally helped that I had to miss six weeks of work.  It finally showed them just how much work I get done in twenty eight hours instead of the normal forty hour week.  I am told it took three people to do my job while I was out and people were really happy when I came back.  Let's just say, I left work yesterday satisfied and happy that they finally understand how hard I work.

I'm not going to apologize for tooting my own horn.  Most of the time, you are only told what you're doing wrong.  It was so nice to hear all that was told to me yesterday.  She also mentioned that I was very insightful regarding the ratting out session she hadn't attended.  I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Wow, that's a long story eh?  Let's get on to the glitter shall we?

This is Zoya Tallulah, Pretty & Polished Valentino and Barry M Navy.  When I was picking colors, the sun was hiding behind thick clouds.  Of course, it came out when I was done and I could have done a holo!

Anywho, I started with a full mani with Navy.  Such a gorgeous deep blue with shimmer.  Here are the starting shots.

It's like it glows from within.  Stunning.  Next I added a layer of Valentino.  I did not try to fish out the big pieces, just wanted the little stuff.  Here is that step.

Yes I get that it's hard to see the black pieces, but I'm ok with that.  I finished this off with my funky with Tallulah, which is a stunning bright blue with shimmer as well. Here are the results.

I do love how this came out.  I think the two blues together are so pretty!  Are you shocked seeing glitter on my blog?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

It's a Pet Peeve

I'm a texting maniac.  I just love to text.  My issue is with all the abbreviations.  Most of them I don't even know what they mean.  I'm the one who spells out all the words. I just can't help it. I can't write short cuts or abbreviations.  I'm way too anal for that.

My biggest texting pet peeve?  LOL.  I absolutely hate that.  I don't know why, it's unexplainable but just how it is.  I write haha instead.  It's no better, no different. Now I have been known to use LMFAO but that's only because I am a proud potty mouth.  Sorry mom and dad!  That's just how it is as well.

The sun was out in full force for today's mani so I took advantage and you will need sunglasses for this holo. It has got to be the strongest, most colorful holo I've seen to date.  Of course, the next day the sun went away so I did not get to enjoy it anymore.

Here is the silly bottle shot.

Yup it's a brown day as well!  Since it's been forever since I wore my favorite color. Did I tell you that pool guy actually made fun of the fact that brown was my favorite color?  Well he did. Think what he said was, " I don't think I've ever met anyone who's favorite color was brown."  Well now he has right??

This is Enchanted Polish Congratulations and Bettina Brown.  Yes that is it's name.

I started with a full mani of Congrats because I really wasn't sure what color it would lean out of the sun.  Here are the starting shots.  Seriously, get your sunglasses!

OMG people!  Do you see all the colors in this baby?  I am seriously in love with this BIG TIME.  You can see it does lean bronzey tan in the Ott Lite so that's why I chose the Brown to go with.  You will also note I have had to do some serious nubbinizing.  The peelies are keeping the polish from staying on and causing chips the next day.  Makes for messy funkying I tell you.  They are so short now, that I'm just gonna leave them alone for awhile and just let them grow with no interference.

I stamped this with Brown and Cheeky jumbo plate 4 Top of the Class.  Here is that step.

My nails are so short, that only my ring finger is showing the LOL that goes with the post title!  Look at all those colors!  I am fascinated here aren't you?????

I finished this with my funky.  Here are a bunch of pictures of the results.

Now you understand my addiction to holos.  This is the reason.  How can you not love this when there are just so many different colors in different types of light?  I will never tire of this and will be wearing this sucker again and again.  I promise you that!!!

What is your pet peeve?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

No Plain Jane

I had to take a break from holos today since the sun was not cooperating.  Of course, it decided to come out after all was said and done.

I also have a confession to make.  I rebought a polish I had sold on my blog sale. Oh the shame I feel and embarrassment telling you all my secret.  I'd bet however, that there are some of you out there that have done the same thing!  Come on, admit it to me!

I had to go stock up on Seche so I saw the new Orly's.  I had been lemming the pretty blue shimmer one called Pretty Ugly.  Well let me just say that this polish may be pretty but it's a PITA to use.  It was sheer, runny and you'd get brush drag so easily that I was getting too frustrated and had to switch polish mid mani.  I'd polish my nail and the stuff would run down the sides of my nail and pool there. So not user friendly what so ever.

The polish I rebought?  Pure Ice Heartbreaker.  This is in the Selkie family, but green instead of blue.  I must have been smoking crack when I sold this beauty.  I just had to have it all over again.  This time it's not for sale!!!  If you guys haven't checked lately, I've lowered prices and added more polish and Julep treatments to my sale.

Here's the silly bottle shot for today.

This is Pure Ice Heartbreaker, Rescue Beauty Lounge Jane, Bettina Peppermint and Orly Pretty Ugly.

I started with Jane and an accent of Ugly.  I was so frustrated again by this Orly, I didn't do a good cleanup job.  Here are the starting shots.

Ott Lite

As pretty as this blue is, I can't see ever having the patience to play with it again.  It's going to the sale.  Jane is a gorgeous nude.  I next stamped with the Bettina, since I had switched blues using Cheeky jumbo plate 10 Happy Nails.  Here is that step.

Ott Lite

I next added a layer of Heartbreaker and finished it off with my funky.  The sun did come out for this part.

Even though this started out lame, I think it turned out really pretty.  The subtle shimmer in the sun from Heartbreaker just makes this mani.  I'm glad I bought it again.

Have you ever rebought a polish you either sold or gave away?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
