Groovy Dude

I think I have actually created my new all time favorite mani.  Or at least in the top five!

I've never tried gradients before and decided it was high time to try it.  Of course, like my last mani, instead of going easy, I went way over the top hard but this time it came out awesomely.

Before we get to that however, I want to rant for a bit.  I went to Ulta, knowing I shouldn't, but I wanted to see if they sold the Seche nail polish.  I've been told some Ultas have them.  Mine does not.  While I was there, I perused the new Fall Essies and picked up the two I liked.  I then saw the new OPI San Francisco collection and almost bought a bunch, but restrained myself and just bought the brown one.  You know how I can't resist a good brown.  I then saw the set of minis from that collection and grabbed it, thinking I'd have the checker see what the price was since it was no where to be found.  At the checkout, I was told the set was $13.  I was a good girl and said no thank you.  But then she said I had $8 off in points.  So what did I do?  What any self respecting polish addict would do. I added the set back to my purchase.  Which means I got that set for $5.

I got home and immediately checked to see if I had bought any dupes.  The brown is not a dupe, which is amazing since I own so many.  Then I looked through my Essies. The grey one is not a dupe since I only own one grey.  The other one?  Vested Interest is a total dupe for the School of Hard Rocks from a few collections ago. That just pisses me off.  I'm sure that it is one drop different from the other so they can say it's different, but in reality, it's the same.  The Vested is maybe a tad lighter. It's probably going on my blog sale.

Doesn't that just make you mad when that happens?  Why do polish companies think that we are that naive that we don't know it's the same color?  Yes I could return it, I suppose, but I shredded my receipt and I'm getting ready to go on my vacation so it just isn't worth it.  Yes I suppose laziness plays a factor as well.

I've actually been pretty good lately with not buying any polish.  This dupe situation pretty much makes me not want to buy any more unless I'm for sure it's brand new.

What I need from you guys is this.  Name me some pretty grey polish that I may want.  I need to expand that color category in my collection.  I don't want drugstore brands-you know I don't do those.  But any of the major ones.  Essie, Zoya, OPI, etc. Please, please help me with this!

OK rant over.

Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is the entire Lime Crime set of pastels with the exception of the white one. The names are: Lavendairy, Once in a Blue Mousse, Pastelchio, Parfait Day, Peaches Cream and Crema de Limon.

I started with a full base of Limon.  Here is that step.

Next I practiced on my right hand how to sponge a gradient.  I won't show you that mess.  Next I sponged each color of the rainbow in layers down my nail.  Here is that step.

This is without topcoat.  So pretty though right?  This would have been gorgeous all on it's own.

I next stamped using MoYou stamping black polish and their new Back to the 60s-01 plate.  I then added some holo hearts.  Here are the very cool results.

Anywho, got any grey polish ideas for me?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
