The Skittlette That Wasn't

I'm trying to step up my game.  Ever since I joined Instagram, I've been seeing all this amazing nail art and feeling quite inadequate.  Plus I want to get a bazillion followers like I've seen others get.  HEHE.

Unless you've been living under the rock with me, then you've heard of Marta at Chit Chat Nails.  She is the one who invented the Skittlette mani.  I love the stuff she does so I studied the tutorial linked above and decided that I'd give it a try.  I have so much fun putting two colors together that using three different colors is even more fun.  I'm excited by the possibilities.

Now according to the rules two nails must be the same.  Well since I was putting my spin on it, I didn't quite follow the rules to the exact letter.  When I showed it to Marta, she told me that this is not a Skittlette but instead Skittles.  My thoughts were that my two fingers have the same base color and the same stamp design just not the same color, but alas, my first Skittlette is the one that wasn't.

Just know that in the next few posts, I do rock an actual Marta approved Skittlette. So stay tuned for that!

I know I haven't regaled you lately with any stories.  I just haven't had any to share. Kind of been a quiet time.

Let's start with the silly bottle shot.

Oh and yeah, this mani is all Enchanted Polish Holos!!!  This is Mr Burgundy, Afternoon Delight, Water for Unicorns and Seven Nation Army.  The Army is the one I just had in my last post comparing black and white glitters.

Since this was supposed to be a Skittlette, I used these three colors for the base. Here is that step.

Holy crap these are gorgeous!  Remember the post I did with the blue holos sunless?  This is one of those blue holos.  I had hinted to Enchanted that I wanted a deep burgundy holo-and looky looky!  Swoooooon.

Next I stamped on the nude base using Cheeky jumbo plate 8 Princess Charming and added Army glitter to the blue base.  Here is that step.

Now this did start out as a correct Skittlette with the base colors alone.  Where I went wrong was using the two colors for the stamping.  You must have two nails the exact same to follow the rules.  My thoughts were the same pattern, but nope. As I've told you before, I'm a rule breaker!

I finished this off with my funky.  Here are the results.

Now I really love this even if it's not a Skittlette.  I am really kind of digging having each nail different. Plus with holo rainbows?  How can you possibly go wrong?

This is an example of Skittles since each nails is different.  Had I done the two middle fingers with the same color stamp and funky, then I would have created a Skittlette.

Have you done a Skittlette before?  Do you like this look?  I know I do.  I'm hooked on the three color mani. The next couple of posts and beyond are going to have many colors.  I am excited again.  Lately I've been losing the mojo to blog since I've found Instagram.  I don't think I'd ever quit blogging all together, but the thought has crossed my mind.

Would you guys be very sad without my blog?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
