Birthday Nails

My birthday has come and gone once again.  I'm always so sad to see it go.  My very own holiday only rolls around once a year!  I decided I needed to do a mani with colors that spoke to me at the time.  Normally it would have been some form of brown, but this time, I had something else in mind.

I'm still working on the list for my massive blog sale so stay tuned for that, it's coming soon!  I have way too much again and need to make room.

Can't think of much to talk about today so let's just get on with it shall we?

Here is your silly bottle shot.

This is Rescue Beauty Lounge Become One and A Study In Polish Mind Palace.

I started with Mind Palace, which is a scattered seafoamy holo.  It has more green in it than my camera is showing you here.  I did an accent of Become One, which is a one coat wonder and a stunning grassy green cream.  Here are the starting shots.

Aren't these pretty together?  So Springy and lovely.  I was feeling lazy and didn't want to do anything major so I just grabbed my favorite design ever on Nailz Craze plate NC03 and stamped away.  Here is that step.

Pretty cool eh?  No matter what colors I use, this design is way cool in my mind!  I ended this with my funky as always.  Here are the results.

You just can't go wrong with holo rainbows on your birthday can you?  I'm just glad the sun was out to show  this off.  I am in love with this green.  It might just be one of my favorites!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Nail Care Myths and a little Taboo

While I was on what I like to call my hiatus, I discovered a new nail blog.  It's called Nail Care HQ.Com and it is no BS.  This blogger, Ana, has done the research that most of us are too lazy to do, myself included.  Ana has opened my eyes to the world of nail care and the lies and half truths we fall for time and time again.

Most of us use what we think are nail strengtheners or things that claim to help grow nails faster and harder.  Well in reality, there is no product that can claim to do this. This link will explain this myth to you.  I must say, that I was very saddened to read this. Because I have spent so much money trying to grow pretty nails and up until recently, Trind was my go to product.  Then Nail Care HQ debunked my Trind love.

But first, Ana debunks Zoya's Qtica nail hardener here.  It is amazing what we all believe in and how companies can get away with telling us these half truths and we go and spend all this money for what?

What Ana does prove is that nails need to be 18% water and 5%o oil to be healthy. Nails grow at the rate your DNA is programmed for. In reality, nails are dead. Ana does mention getting pregnant or moving some place warmer as the true means of making your nails grow faster.  What Ana is touting is nail health and not spending the billions we spend on products that won't do anything for your nails.

Ana also talks about how Jojoba oil is the closest to Sebum oil, which is the only oil your body recognizes and absorbs.  She has made her own oil concoction that you can buy.

I am not being paid to say these things. I bought all these products on my own and am convinced that it is true.  I am in love with this oil and have followed her steps she describes here.  Here is a picture of what I'm talking about.

I have already gone through a bottle of this stuff! You can buy this stuff here.

Her newest adventure has brought her into the base and top coat realm. Ana states the top coat is similar to Seche Vite, maybe not as shiny and won't get thick halfway through the bottle.  I must say I tried this yesterday and besides it being stinky-Seche is too, my nails were dry to the touch in less than 3 minutes.  It might have been even faster, but I'm afraid to even touch my nails for an hour after painting! Also it seemed just as shiny as Seche to me, although I have not done a side by side yet.

Her base coat is a ridge filler and I was really impressed when I used it.  Here are pictures of these two.

I am not sure if Ana makes this stuff herself, or is just selling it on her site.  All I know is that I trust her and her research and so far am loving her and her information as well as her products!

Now on to the Taboo stuff.  Are you ready?

Did I trick you?  Were you expecting more myths and debunking?  This is Chanel Taboo.

I just got this and had to try it out since the sun was out in full force.  Here are way too many pictures.  I did not do any nail art, because it's just too pretty!

Are you freakin kidding me????????  This is a stunner for sure!  This is a deep dark purple with a red, blue and purple shimmer fest inside it.  I showed you this in different lights so you can see how it looks.  There is not a bad angle with this polish on!  I did use the Simply Quick Top Coat on this and it's plenty shiny for me. You all know how I love me some shiny!

Please go and learn for yourselves the truths about nail care and the products out there.  I have stopped buying any other products and am using this oil religiously.

It simply works.

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

I like this one

One more post before I wreck all your truths about nail care.  What I found shocked me to my core.

For today, I have an homage to Rescue Beauty Lounge.  My favorite brand as you all know!  I was expecting to get the new collection in the mail so I thought I'd do a mani using all RBL polish in anticipation.  How cool or corny is that?

Which side are you on, cool or corny?  Haven't you ever done something like this with polish?  Think hard people.  I bet most of you have in some fashion or another!

I will also be having another big blog sale.  I need to make room for the polish I do want. It's going to be the lazy man's sale, no pictures, just a list of names.  I think most of us know the names of the polish we want right?  There will be a lot of Nails Inc, some Zoya, some Square Hue and lots of others.  Stay tuned for that.

As I write this, tomorrow is my birthday.  Normally, on my birthday, I take the day off from work and go shopping or get a facial.  Something fun just for me.  I actually love my birthday.  I see it as my own special holiday.  This year however, is different.  Since my life took a hit, I will have to put off any celebrating until a later date.  Don't feel bad for me!  It's all good!  What I can't believe, is I'm going to be 45!  Halfway to 50!

Now there's an age I may have trouble hitting.  I had no problems with 30 or 40, but 50 just seems like a big deal.  I guess we shall see right?

All right.  On with today's homage.  Here is the silly bottle shot.

This is RBL Abi, Poppy and Faraway from the last GOMM collection.  All are gorgeous colors with hidden shimmer.  I love them!

I started with a full Poppy mani.  This is a stunning orangey red shimmer.  Here are the starting shots.

Isn't it pretty?  Next I added striping tape and some glequins.  Here is that step.

Pretty cool so far eh?  Next I added dots using Abi and Faraway, then alternated them as my funky.  Here are the cool results.

I just love these colors together.  I think they are stunning.  I wore this for a few days just staring at them.

Do you have a  problem age you aren't sure you want to get to yet?  Have you done a polish homage before?

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Stupid Camera

I thought I had the coolest color combination going on in my head.  My camera had other ideas.

Why is that? Why can't a simple camera see purple as it is?  There is also a hint of a dupe on this post, but trust it is my camera playing tricks on your eyes.

Before we get on with it, I wanted to say thank you to all the well wishes I got on my last post.  I'm happy to be back too!

Today's topic is one we have visited before.  But one I need to vent about once again. It's all about my fight to feed the pretty birds and not the squirrels.  I am passive aggressive when it comes to this.  Yes it makes me mad, but it's not like I really do much about it.  My dad on the other hand, treats it like it's him against them and he's not about to lose.  When he visited me recently, every time a squirrel got on the feeder, dad would chase him off.  Mom and I would just laugh and say give it up dad, but nope, he was on a mission.

Needless to say, he did not win that war.  I had to go pick up more seed and while I was there, I perused the other feeders.  I had given up that there truly is a squirrel proof feeder.  Then I saw one that cost $5 and there is no outside cage for the squirrel to grab on to, just a couple of bars for the birds to land on.  I thought hmmmm, maybe this would at least slow them down.  I hung it up and it took a couple of days but the squirrels outsmarted me again.  They chewed through the plastic and the seed all fell to the ground.  I never actually saw any birds eating on the feeder either.  It was like it confused them or something.

Score-squirrels one, me zero.

Back up went my other feeder.

Now on to happier things.  Here is the silly bottle shot.

This is Picture Polish Jade, Julep Eden and Picture Polish Kryptonite.  The plants are my lily of the valley sprouts coming up to celebrate my birthday.  Although this year, they are late coming up.  Usually they bloom right on my birthday this Friday.  They are my all time favorite flowers, but after they are done blooming they are pretty boring plants the rest of the time!  These were transplanted from my gramma's garden in New York and now live in Virginia with me.  It's a nice memory to have.

Now as you can see, my camera is freaking out on the Jade and the Eden.  Eden is a gorgeous dark blurple, but my camera insists that it's blue.  AARRGGH!

I started with Jade, which is the color of the moment is it not?  It seems to be everywhere right now.  Minty green shimmer.  I just love it.  This seems to look like my Chick Gavie Green but IRL Gavie is darker.   Here are the starting shots.

Why is it when I think my nails are a perfect square shape, I see pictures and they aren't?  Why can't I file a stupid square shape??????

This is so much cooler in real life!  Next I stamped with the opposite color using Bundle Monster plate BM306 then added some random Kryptonite dots.  Here is that step.

I finished this up with my funky as always.  Here are the results.

This came out pretty cool I guess.  Just wish I could have shown you the true color scheme.

I think I'm going to try the skittlette thing that's going around.  I'm not sure I like it though.  Random designs on each nail with the same color scheme?  May be too hip for me to handle, but I will at least try it out!

I also have new Cheeky plates on the way!  I can't wait to play with those!!!

I have decided to just live in harmony with the squirrels.  I know the birds get their seeds too.

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
