Christmas Cactus

I have quite a few houseplants.  I love having that green all over the place.  Years ago, my mom gave me a Christmas cactus.  Somehow this plant knows when it's December even though it's in a fairly controlled indoor climate.  I have no idea how it knows but every December it blooms the prettiest flowers.  I don't get many but the few I get are stunning.  I thought I'd share that with you for this post.  It also gave me inspiration for the colors to use for today's mani.

Here is my Christmas cactus flower.

Isn't it pretty?  I look forward to this every year.  As you can see, it's green and red which just happens to also be Christmas colors!

I also want to mention that today is my awesome Dad's birthday 12/12/12.  Happy Birthday to my dad!  I love you!  It makes me wonder what the end of the world people are gonna do when the world continues after 12/21/12.  The end of the Aztec calendar. What do you think will happen?

Here is the silly bottle shot for today.

This is A England Tess D'Urbervilles and Perceval.  On a side note, it makes me very sad that A England made a glitter.  I hate when companies who strive to make perfect cremes and shimmers switch to glitter.  I sure hope it's not all she does from now on! That's just my opinion!

I started with Perceval and an accent of Tess.  Here are the starting shots.

I love these two colors together!  Next I stamped using Sally Hansen Whirlwind White and Cheeky plate CH12.  Here is that step.

I love snowflakes!  Next I added a layer of Northern Lights holo topcoat and topped this off with my funky in the opposite color.  Here are the results.

Trust me, you can't see the schmear in real life, only in macro!  I just love how the Northern Lights just adds a little sparkle just like snow!  I couldn't stop staring at my nails!

So who can tell me how my cactus knows when to flower?  Do you think the world will end?

Happy Birthday DAD!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
