Holo Times

The day before I left for New York, I wanted to try some new colors I had gotten recently.  The sun was out in full force so I thought it a perfect time to do some holo happiness.

The problem is, I am not at home and can't remember the name of the OPI.  It was part of three that Ulta had on sale as Christmas colors.  If anyone can tell me the title, I'll edit this post!

**EDIT** Kas at Varnished Valkyrie was the first to tell me what the name of this OPI is. Kudos to you my friend!  You are the Ulta OPI name champ of the day!  This is Gift Cards For Everyone.  Quite the stupid name-but hey, I didn't name it right?

You know what's funny?  How many messages I got from lonely boys on Christmas. Way too many.  I guess they had nothing better to do?  Some I answered, some I didn't. Not really too into it at the moment.

So let's get to the mani.  Here is the silly bottle shot.

This is the OPI Gift Cards for Everyone, Enchanted Polish Dance of the Sugar Plum, Bruised Nutcracker and A England Order of the Garter.

I started with the OPI and an accent of Garter.  I thought these two would play well together.  I was wrong.  But these two are gorgeous on their own.  Here are the starting shots.

That OPI is stunning right?  Since these didn't really go together as I had planned, I topped the OPI off with Sugar Plum and the Garter with Nutcracker.  Here is that step.

Complete and utter change right?  Now they play well together!  I just love Enchanted Polish and her holos!  Since I was in the midst of packing and didn't want to mess with this too much, I just added my funky with the OPI.  Here are the results.

I know, I'm a miserable excuse for a polish addict when I can't remember the name of this OPI!  I'm sure someone out there can help me, if not, I'll edit this when I get home.

Isn't this gorgeous?  I stared at them the whole way up to New York in the car.  I just love the rainbows.

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Frozen Butt

You all know I'm in New York hanging with the fam.  Well, my 6 year old niece made me promise to play in the snow with her.  Of course, she didn't have to beg too hard since I love snow and it's been years since I went out and played in it.

She decided for today's nails that she would try her press on nails.  I did not take pictures of that, but they were cute with snowflakes, polar bears and penguins.  Several hours later, she had picked them off.

It snowed all night here and it's still snowing now.  I have not been out to see just how much has fallen, but the news is saying anywhere from 8-12 inches with 5-8 inches more to fall today.  It is snowing out there now. I tried to take a picture of the falling snow out the window, but this is all I got.

This is what it looks like out the window to my right as we speak.  Picture heavy snow falling since it's not showing up on my picture!

My niece and I went outside after I put on layers and layers with snowpants, hat and double socks and gloves.  Behind my parents house is the golf course.  We grabbed the sled and headed through the backyard to sled.  Once we got to the third green, I was tired!  I looked down the way to where we used to walk to for sledding on the tenth green back when I was growing up.  I couldn't believe how far away it looked.  It made me wonder how we got that far just to sled!  Oh but the tenth green was the bomb for sledding.

We sledded for an hour and a half!  It was fun!  It has been a VERY long time since I did that.  We are talking over 25 years.  We sat frontwards and backwards and lying down. Besides the fact that I am not young like she is, I started to realize I was getting very worn out and for some reason could not feel my butt.  The snow had penetrated through the layers down to my undies and my butt was literally frozen wet.  I had to tell my niece it was time to go in.  I'm surprised I even made it an hour and a half!  The rest of the day was shot because I was so tired, but oh how much fun was had.  I did not take pictures, because I didn't want my camera to get ruined.

My butt has now recovered so here is your silly bottle shot for today.

This is Bettina Purple and OPI Eiffel for this color.  I started with Eiffel and an accent of Purple.  Here is that step.

In reality, Eiffel is a gorgeous deep purple with shimmer.  I next stamped with plate DRK-C and the opposite color.  Here is that step.

Pretty cool so far right?  Next I just did my funky.  Here are the results.

This is a purple passion mani!  I'm so glad I got to go sledding-I have a lot of great sledding memories from growing up and it was fun to act like a kid again.

Have you ever had a frozen butt?  It's not something I recommend!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Christmas Nails

I hope you all had a very nice holiday.  I am still in New York and it's the quiet before the storm.  The weather forecast is for us to get up to two feet of snow between tonight and tomorrow.  Personally, I LOVE snow and cannot wait to play in it.  I am just glad the timing is what it is so I can still get home on Saturday.

Too bad the snowblower is out of commission.  This storm would definitely drop enough snow to plow!

Now I told you to get excited for my niece's creations.  Today is the first of a few I will be showing you.  We did this Christmas Eve for the Day.  She wanted us to have matching base colors.  She wanted candy canes on hers so I did a candy theme on mine.  It's super awesome!

Now in lieu of the silly bottle shot, I thought I'd show you the backyard snow as it is now.  Then later on in another post, I will show you storm pictures.

Is this not absolutely gorgeous???  Look at that blue sky.  I just love snow and especially when it sticks to the trees like this.  We already have about a foot of snow on the ground.  My niece and I are to go out and play in it this afternoon before the storm comes later today.

On to the manis.  I started with base color of Bettina Chic which is a stunning fire engine red.  Stay tuned for NEW Bettina coming mid January!  I cannot wait to show you them!

Anywho, here are the starting shots of my nails.

Pretty right?  Next I stamped with Sally Hansen Whirlwind White using Bundle Monster plate BM 306 for my nails and Cheeky plate CH17 for my niece's nails.  Here is that step on me.

So this is the candy theme to go with her candy canes.  For her, I added a layer of Northern Lights holo topcoat before I stamped.  She wanted extra sparkle.  I topped mine off with my funky using China Glaze Emerald Sparkle.  Here are the results.

Here is my niece's nails along with a shot of both of ours together.

Now remember, she picked out all the colors and designs.  I think at 6, that's pretty darn awesome!  I hope when she gets older, she still likes polish-I need someone to gift my collection to when I stop polishing!

I hope you have enjoyed this post.  I hope I don't get too buried in snow later today!  I will bring you more in a later post!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?

Santa!

I've been waiting a long time to be able to use the design for this post.  As you are reading this, I am in New York with the fam enjoying some snow hopefully and Christmas Eve.

This is going to be short and sweet.

Here is your bottle shot.

What?? Just one bottle of polish?  Did I hit my head or something?  Just you wait! This is China Glaze Velvet Bow and it is gorgeous!

Here are the starting shots.

I have to bitch that this polish stains seriously bad as you can see!  But it is oh so stunning.  I just love this kind of color!  Next I stamped with Sally Hansen Whirlwind White using SDP-P plate.  Here is that step.  Are you ready for coolness?

Is this not the coolest design?  If I had bigger nails, even more would have shown up. Please also note the crispness of this stamp!  I outdid myself!!!!

Of course when I added my Northern Lights holo, it smeared the design but you can't see it in real life, only on macro.  And for the first time since I started my blog-NO FUNKY FRENCH!  Can you believe it?  I didn't want to cover up the design at all.  Here are the results.

Trust me that you cannot see the smears in real life.  Yes I'm mad I smeared it after such a crisp stamp, but sh*t happens and it still came out pretty damn cool to me!

I may use this one again because I showed it to my niece in September and if she remembers, we will need to use it again.  No way will this fit on her nails!

I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Kwanzaa or whatever you happen to celebrate!

Until next time people.  Any thoughts out there?
